Have never had the chance to drive a 458. Just curious, if like other supercars, is it super low to the ground and somewhat difficult getting in and out of? Especially if you may not be a thin contortionist

You get used to it; however, part of it is age related and how much physical dexterity remains in your body.

Try a Miata, S2000, Z4, or a Corvette and you will get the idea.

Don't know your physical limitations, but I didn't have any major problem getting in and out. I'm 5' - 8" tall, was 185 lbs when I was driving the 458 as a DD. It is much lower coming from an SUV (no surprise), and lower than a normal sedan, but with door fully open no problem getting in and out. In my garage, because of space limitations, door not fully open, a little twisting and pushing up was necessary to get out. A friend that's 6' tall and 210 struggled just a little getting out (but was okay getting in). It didn't stop him from enjoying the car.

One separate point. I found that if the seats are leather (can't speak to Alcantara), and you rub against the edge getting in and out, you will eventually rub off some of the color. One friend's 458 has a noticeable loss of color on the outside edge of his Black leather driver's seat from him getting in and out (he's about 5' - 10", weighs maybe 200 lbs).

In the end, if this is an important factor in your purchase, you should sit in the car before deciding, if possible. If it's a long distance purchase, you might try to find a 458 with the same seats (style and function (electric/manual)) and test those, with door fully open, and in a more restricted setting.

Ordinarily, I wouldn't spend much time worrying about your question, but last year a visiting friend that is overweight tried driving my 488 and he struggled to get in and out and although he loved the car, he acknowledged he could never own one because of his physical limitations.

This reminded me that sitting in the seat can also let you know if the top of the windshield is so low that it might block your forward vision. I'm speaking from the standpoint of not being able to see overhead traffic signals when too close to them. The fix is to scoot down in the seat, but this is not always possible.

Depends which seats. Race are harder to get in and out.

I'm 6', 175 lb.; 458 had full electric seats, 488 has race seats. No problem getting in and out of either!

I'm over 6'10'' and a bit on the chunky side. Non issue for me. The one I sat in had racing seats all the way back (obviously).

Forgot to add that height and weight can certainly be factors, but just as important is your physical condition. If you suffer from any physical disabilities, you really should test before buying.

For most owners, I think you'll hear that getting in and out is a non-issue.

I had the regular electric seats and found ingress/egress to be no problem as daily driver.

It's more challenging to get in/out of my Huracan. Seems lower/door swings out wider.

I pay a little more attention getting in the car because I'm anal about not wearing out the outer edge of the seat. Getting out no problem.
What bugs me the the rear view mirror. I can't adjust it to see back far enough.

Well if he does that 10 times a day he will surely strengthen his core, buying that car was probably the best gym membership he could purchase, at least he will use it!

I have a McLaren and a 458. The McLaren has a tub you need to get out of so it’s even harder than the 458. But it really comes down to leg strength. Don’t pry off the seats to get out, makes you look silly. Right hand on the steering wheel and lift yourself out with your left leg on the ground and stand up. It’s graceful and doesn’t harm the interior. Reverse to get in.

    Different proportions I guess.

Also I always drive with my shoes off, frees up a surprising amount of space.

That’s incredible! What’s the tightest fit of any car you own/owned?

I didn't fit in a 355 sadly but got to drive my friends' 360. I keep owning larger vehicles currently, but on the look for a 550.

My younger brother who is 6'8'' owns a mk1 MX5 (miata in the States) and uses it as his daily driver. Don't ask me how! All he's done is fit a smaller steering wheel.

What I have found is changes such as slightly lower seat, smaller steering wheel, moving the seat back an inch or lowered an inch makes an incredible difference, and similarly, driving with shoes off (or shoes with really thin soles). I had an early 90s 5 series once, with steering wheel that would look about right on a sailing ship from the 1600s it was that large...I had the seat rail changed that was about 1 inch further back and half an inch lower, I went from being squeezed to actually moving the seat 1 notch forward!
