Any one have first hand experience from driving the two cars that would care to share your opinion? I see lots of 488 vs 570 comps but price wise, the 458 is a closer comparison. Very subjective... but id love to get your guys thoughts on the comparison/ pros and cons from your time with them. Thanks!

    I had a 570S and had a lot of experience driving 458.

Pro for 570S is speed, the acceleration is massive while traction is far superior than 458 despite the performance edge. Sexy door that goes up and extremely daily driveable. Car is super nimble, almost like a much more powerful Lotus Exige. Gauge cluster is also more exciting than 458/488 which changes layout depending on driving mode.

Con is the sound, while being arguably best sounding Mclaren, 458 hands down sounds a lot better. The shape of 570S makes it looks super small despite dimension states otherwise.

Look is subjective, both great looking cars, fun factor wise, edge goes to 458.

Had both and actually drive my cars unlike many people who put 1k miles on them in 4 years or something and get on the internet and talk about how they know a lot about a car they haven't really spent much time in.. Save only sound the 570s is better in every way IMO. I wouldn't buy a 458 over a 570s at any price point. Id probably take a Speciale over it, but thats a different discussion/price point/etc.

I was just in this boat and decided on a 2012 458 with 7K miles over 570s. My reasoning was styling, depreciation, and the Ferrari x-factor. 570s is an awesome car don't get me wrong however I didn't care for the turbo lag, and in Southern CA they are on every corner.

I have both...570 is a show stopper (besides rear end which looks kinda weak) power is insane, but 458 has way more soul and sounds waaay better..when I look in the garage 458 is the more thrilling car to drive...more directly connected to engine....570 slightly numb

I would pick neither only because I am not in market for anything that range, if absolutely must choose between 458 and 570S, I would go for a black 458. At this price range, it is about the top 5 cars you can get. I would go 2016+ R8 V10 plus, it is a very under rated car. One of most recent surprise was Aventador S, test drove it and amazed by how nimble and small it feels compare to gen 1 Aventador.

Already had 570S and daily drove it, 7k miles in 8 months. Amazing car all around and great daily driver.

The 570S is probably one of the worst sounding McLarens. Did you forget about the F1, P1, Senna, 720S, 675LT, 650S, 12C, 600LT, 570GT?

Agreed...they sound (almost?) deal breakingly bad:( I cant even find even a single after market exhaust that fixes it either. Did you forget how much more money those other cars are?! (Well, minus the gt...not sure why that was included :)

Negative, with exception of P1, Senna, and F1. 570S is better sounding than the rest of easily obtainable McLarens. 600LT is not yet delivered to customers yet.

It is not just my opinion, it is the general consensus, check the McLarenlife.

I have both. I drive the 570s more than my 458. I believe it depends on the spec of the 570s that you’re getting.

I have a 570s Spyder and have a really high msrp on it (carbon fiber bucket seats, carbon fiber exterior, Alcantara interior, MSO Titanium exhaust, etc.)

For the sound just get a aftermarket exhaust or spec it with the MSO Titanium Exhaust. The car sounds great with this exhaust.

No matter what you pick you can’t go wrong with a 458 or 570s..

458 is pure beauty but dated in comparison. If you are going to use it often go 570, for weekend cruiser go 458. Both are different and great in their own ways. I have a 720 and would add a 458 before a 570 if I was to have both.

I still have a couple 675’s and the P1, but could not stand the 720 or 650 as they were too uninvolving and quiet. The underpowered 570 was never even a consideration.

I still have four 458 variants though admittedly no base models.

I realize my desires or preferences in cars might be extreme, but to me, there is no question I’d opt for a 458 over a 570.

Thats a tough one, both have been known to have certain issues but it has been car by car. Service records are a must either way.

The 570S is distincly inferior to the 720S on every level.
