Here's the situation, Got a 2010 458 that will not Rev over 3600 in Park and Neutral. But it will when the car is in motion (over 10 MPH or so).-- Rolling in Neutral works fine. But once the car is at a complete stop, it goes back to REV limit of 3600. A reliable source told me that this was not an ECU Limiter, but rather the throttle bodies needed to be calibrated. Does anyone know if the LEONARDO Diag tool can do this yet? Or maybe NAVIGATOR TXT with IDC4?? This car has the Kreissieg exhaust so reving in park is a must. Any Help will be appreciated!!

    Hold on Louie.

To my understanding this is a correct function of the vehicle. This has been put in place by COUNTLESS manufacturers so that while the car is static it WONT rev up to red-line. Jag, Ford, Mercedes, etc., etc. are designed this way so the shenanigans that people do in park will cease.

Excessive rev-ving in neutral is not an optimum action for engines.

I have a Leonardo BTW and I cant imagine how I could help you around this assumed built-in parameter.

Shift into first, then into neutral while keeping your left foot on the brake. Then try reving with your right foot. (you are now not in Park and it should rev freely)

@Lawin- The car is in "Tip-Top" shape.

@MikeB- Once again, Thanks for the info. I have been trying to figure something out with IDC4 and the Texa TXT tool, but no progress. Are you running the 458 Beta Software on the Leonardo?

If we could figure what module deals with this limiter, I could probably figure a way to read the chip. I agree that Rev'ing the car in neutral is not ideal, but if you are paying over $200,000 for a car, it should do whatever you want it to do, with a Smile!

@Russ- I will try that. It sounds simple enough, but from my previous testing, it needs to sense some movement at the wheels. Have you confirmed this method to work, first hand?

I know this works on Scuds and 599s, it should work on the 458.

--CONFIRMED--. Thanks for the advice Russ! that method does work on 458's, just be careful to shift out of first while REV'ing.
Does anyone know what module or sensor is preventing this from happening in Park? Would be nice to get rid of that little bug.

@Frari- can you explain what Launch Control is? If it is some type of mode, how do you activate it?

On 458s its called Performance Start (LC was in the Stradale). Its activated by pressing the PS button. I don't think the engine revs freely while in PS (nor would you want it to).

Are you stating that the 458 will not rev over 3600rpm while in park?

Is this a standard function from Ferrari for the 458? All 458's are this way as well??

I do not remember reving it over 3600 when I test drove it while in park.

Ha, Ha.... Starting to smell like BEN GAY up in this Forum. (No offence if you actually use the stuff.) Mark hit the Nail square on the Head. This car has a Kreissieg Exhaust system. Killer sounds at high RPM! Although I agree that excessive REV'ing in Park is not ideal, I also agree that if it's your car, do whatever you want with it. You Paid for it, enjoy it.

I think it was a 2010 model, I did it at a dealer a few weeks ago, what is your firmware/software version, maybe the old versions didn't allow you to rev past 3600 (why so precise, why not 3000 or 4000, seems strange).

I have a video clip that shows this, but it wouldn't allow me to upload due to size limit, PM me and I can send to you. Thanks.

that's Ben Gay, why they won't let you rev....
as long as you don't rev and switch gear, i don't see any problem with reving....

Do you have a video that shows REVing over 3600? Hardware is 0261S02568 Software is 1037521121-- ME9.6.11 ECU. I am curious to know if it was only done for particular markets being that this car is a Japanese Market Model.

@Lawin- I've been meaning to ask what year your 458 is, and what market was it targeted for? US, Europe, Asia....
