458 Wing mirror not fully opening.

    Just before I turn the 458 off, I fold the mirrors in. I then turn it off and then move the knob back to the open position, so when I turn the 458 on, the mirrors open up.

    The left mirror started to only half open about six months ago. Ferrari wanted to help and picked up the car. They couldn’t replicate the issue, but cleaned all the mechanism.

    The issue prevailed and at the last service, Ferrari fully replaced the left wing-mirror.

    I’ve got the car back and the issue still happens, but now BOTH mirrors stick You can’t make it up.

    Does anyone have any clue what might be happening?

    - I 100% check that the knob is clicked into the open position and is not stuck or out of place.


    Such a weird issue.

    I also close the mirrors but leave the knob in the closed position until after I start the car. Then I turn the knob to open the mirrors. Give that a try. Maybe by turning the knob to open after you turn off the car is causing a problem.

    Ditto for me, I close the mirrors before entering the car park. The knob stays in the closed position until I start the car again and back out of the car park. No problems with this method in three years.

    I agree with RS458 but weird things happen with the 458 when the battery is weak. I’d look at that to start with and also try the factory re-set. See if that helps..

    Looks like a switch problem if now both mirrors have this.

    Go on Ebay an buy a used switch, why not thake that risk ?

    Things like this are going to happen to all of our 10 years (and over) old cars ....
