Wow...something really needs to be done about these. I hope the driver got out of there safely. Looked pretty bad...

 

Guys...? Um...who is responsible for these cars now?

Does Ferrari step up the plate and replace them??? Or, is it just up to the owner's regular car insurance to pay out?

If I were an insurance company I would definitely be attempting to get Ferrari to pay for these damages now that it is not an isolated incident.

 

Would an owner have to wait several months again to get a replacement or do you think Ferrari will put them at the front of the list thus delaying delivery of freshly built cars to buyers who have not received their cars yet?

What a drag if you waited months to get your car and then had to wait yet again after just a few days, weeks of ownership.

As well with the build numbers so low the ratio of cars destroyed would seem that rates to insure the car may increase drastically if the problem is not addressed quickly. This may cause some people to cancel their orders altogether, although we are talking about a pretty expensive car and the rates would have to increase quite a bit for it to be considered unacceptable to most buyers, I would assume.

Little doubt remains now that this is a product design problem that Ferrari will most likely be legally responsible for.And in some states the liability may extend beyond the direct physical loss.Most certainly if injuries are involved.As a trial lawyer in Ca. This looks like a slam dunk IMO.If an owner choses to collect through his own carrier they will probably look to Ferrari in a subrogation action for recoupment of any loss paid out.Bye the way,I am aware Ferrari has paid a similar claim on a 360.Those posters on the 458 vs McLaren thread might want to do some editing.Do we want our children riding around in this car?Might turn out to be a simple fix but if so why the delay?Spectacular video.

 

Seriously man, I don't know how many 458s have been built, but 4 out of 200-300(my guess, could be wrong) that is still a big %!!

Hardly gloating as my neighbor has one, would greatly prefer he doesn't die in a fire and I am pretty sure his wife and kids feel the same. This is not a personal issue, it is life threatening Joe.

The article mentioned 10 burned plus one in a warehouse (a total of 11), and they may not have two important pieces of information:

1) The total number of F458 Italia burned.
2) The total number of F458 Italia waiting to catch fire, but still intact because most Ferrari owners just don't drive the cars.

this is freaking me out, I hope Ferrari will explain what's going on.

 

Why don't the mods shut all these down? This mass hysteria is doing nothing but harm to Ferrari's reputation as well as everyone's resale values. There is entirely too much exaggeration about the numbers of cars burned (no, it's not 10) and the factory is investigating the problem. There is already at least one campaign underway to correct an issue in the engine bay that may be the cause, so all this speculation and sensationalism does not befit this forum. Mods, please react!

It is, without question, the hottest car produced in Maranello these days.

 

The car is pretty hot right now, but it could happen eventually.

 

It begs the question, can a 458 really do a burn out?
