    Thanks for this info...
So both coupe and spider versions would be limited, but at relatively high and random numbers?
Previously the coupe was not strictly limited (although time would de facto limit the number, probably around a value that could be estimated from the start) and the spider was officially limited to a far lower number.
I am not convinced in the value of "limiting" to 2700 (or even 1700 cars), it does not seem to make any difference to a random production of 2743 (or 1718...) cars.
2700+1700 is 4400, a value that is more than the total annual production not so long ago (and more than half the annual production by current numbers).

yes not really a limited edition.....it sounds more as a “special version”

name and tech specs are very confidential....but dont worry technically will match all FFans expectations, just wait!!

When will the coupe version be launched?

If its truly 4400 production, that means, if you want one, likely you will get one.

That's a big increase over the 458 Speciale. I believe the generally accepted numbers of the Speciale were around 1800 coupes and 500 aperta.

At least give us an insight into whether we need to be concerned whether it will beat the competition :)

Actually I always thought 458 Speciale was around 2500. Australia is generally 2% of the global market and I believe we got about 50-60 458 Speciale's

From other talks here 458 Speciale would be between 2500 and 3000 (probably closer to 2500), Scuderia being 1500+.
So 2700 for GTO (or whatever it will be called) is an easy figure to reach, however 1700 for an Aperta is a huge step from the 458 SA (advertised as limited to 499, even if it's been exceeded my guess is that it did not reach 600...)
Personnally I think an Aperta version (with its stiffness compromise) does not make sense for a radical sportier model, unless it's intended for speculators - which is consistent with a very limited production number.

I always thought 142 is the code from the 458 serie.

I think its a safe assumption that a 488 Aperta will happen a few months after the 'GTO'

Correct me if I am wrong but the 458 Speciale was introduced in September 2013 with the Aperta debuting a full year later in September 2014. Seems to me Ferrari will follow that pattern and not introduce this 488Aperta so soon after the coupe.

They may change that though, since the 488 spider was released very soon after the GTB (whereas there was about one year between the 458 Italia and Spider); for the 488 the unveilings were March and September respectively IIRC but the actual deliveries were closer, the first customers GTB being delivered in September and the first spiders December/January.
My guess is that the competitive pressure is shortening the products cycles.

The coupe number seems very reasonable (even a bit low, considering the guessed number for the 458 Speciale production and the trend to increase shipments) whereas the spider number seems very high compared to the claimed Speciale Aperta production.
The 458 Speciale was a "special edition " while the Speciale Aperta was presented as a "limited edition", 1700 would be a very high number for a "limited edition". And without the appeal of the "limitation" I don't know why so many people would want a road car compromised in two opposite directions (as a track-oriented car and as a spider), although marketing could do marvels.

I agree....if the number of Spider will be confirmed personally I would prefer the coupe as a track-oriented car
I don’t know how they will present the cars, special or limited!! May be due to the success of 458 Speciale/Aperta they decided for a special edition in order to increase sales.....

Honestly when I learnt these numbers I was surprise too
