If I understand the problem you are not satisfied with the alignment of joint of the head unit to the base unit where it swivels. If that is the case, see if you can separate the base and the head unit to see how it is mounted together. One thought might be if you have a small mill you can mill(file) the screw holes into small circular eccentrics to allow slight rotational positioning of the mirror head in relation to the base. That is of course you can get to the holes by disassembly of the unit. JWAG

 

If I understand the problem, is it that you are transferring the mechanism to the CF cover and now the screw mounting holes don't line up? Probably the simplest thing would be to get a small amount of epoxy putty, and fiberglass and fashion some mounting pads inside the CF cover in the appropriate places, flatten them off with a dremel, and drill and tap them for the mounting screws, or fashion some offset mounting brackets. Again, I may not be understanding the problem however.
