I know is a little early but is there someone here already talking with the dealers besides peter?

I will be calling tomorrow and see if I can make a downpayment.

Disagree. Turbo is commonplace and will always be cheaper. You should have been complaining a long time ago. The lesson is be careful what you wish for.

I'm very impressed about the 488 GTB. I think its a great looking and performing car like what came before it 458,430,360,355 and etc. I don't think 458 Speciale owners are displeased about the 488 having more HP and Torque. The 488 GTB replaces the 458 Italia. While the 360CS, 430 Scud, 458 Speciale and 599 GTO are on its own level. But I'm excited to see whats coming next from Ferrari.

I like it but not enough to switch from my Spider to Coupe. Will wait for 488 Spider. My concerns echoed by others are turbo lag, heat soak, sound and 8K redline. 8-9K is the sweet spot on my 458.

What car company other than Ferrari can evoke the emotional response needed to generate an 83 page thread in less than 24 hours??
    amazing.
The 458 and its variants are world class cars that created new levels challenging others to beat. The 488GTB stirs the emotions which is frankly what the brand is about... And winning races!
Bravo Ferrari... You did it once again!

Yes, thanks for no screen (whew)

Overall the car IS pleasant and will appeal to most. And yes, you can tell there is no PF influence. There are some integration problems with the design that PF would have solved.

Yes, the NA V8 is gone, and only the purists will care. In a way the turbo V8 moves closer to a Tesla. No sound, but lots of torque. Welcome to brave new world. But the NA V12 is still with us. And it is wonderful.

Not to mention the anticipation leading up to the car, small wonder they won most powerful brand back in 2013.

I'm not here to rain on your parade, but this thread is 6 months old. It has just had a name-change.

I honestly just can't wait for the reviews to start coming out and then the inevitable vs match with the Mclaren on who makes the best turbo engines.

I think first comparison will be with 458, since it represent end of one amazing era. Everyone is eager to see how 488 stands against iconic 458 :)

Realistically what is the life of this car? It would be on the road early 2016 and run til 2019 when ferrari will announce that a true replacement is coming. So around 3-3.5 years?
It isn't a new car right..chassis is the same as the 458?
When is the all new car expected?

It looks great, but I wouldn't consider getting rid of my 458 for it. As someone said, it just looks like an Italia with a body kit. More powerful yes, but they're always going to be more powerful car being released.

Tell that to the market. The Huracan has barely even been out and there are cars going under MSRP that don't even sell right away. People thought it would be like the Aventador with large premiums, but the reality is MSRP all day at most. I wouldn't pick a Huracan over the 488. Performance-wise it looks massively lower.

I'm thinking about a 20-25% over the Italia. Between £215-£225k base.

If considering a Huracan I would preferably wait untill a more performance-orientated version comes out. Also, the seats have received enormous criticism. Evo said they did not recommend purchasing the car unless you had thouroughly tested the seats.

There are roads in T&T good enough for a 458?

Good news is that there were lots of 458's produced and shipped to NA. Since most are garage queens there will be plenty to choose from for quite some time.
The best naturally aspirated V8 engine ever or a technically superb twin turbo will jaw dropping performance.. Enuf for any car crazy enthusiast!
I'm sticking with 458 ... But who knows, I used to think my Fiat124 spider was the best😉

Since the 308, Ferrari's M.O. has been 308-328, 348-355, 360-430 (360CS - 430Scud), now 458-488 (458 Speciale - 488?*). The totally new designed mid engine V8 (Hybrid?) probably won't be introduced until after the release of "488?*" in 2017/18. That's my opinion based on Ferrari's mid engine design history.

It was discussed in the F12/FF forum a few days ago. I think the consensus is that it will look something like this.

    2014 Cali T
    2015 488GTB/GTS
    2016 FF-M
    2017 F12-M
    2018 Cali T replcement
    2019 488 Replacement
    2020 FF Replacement
    2021 F12 Replacement.

My guess is that the first 488GTB's will be on the roads here in Europe in the early fall of 2015 and the 488GTS will debut at Frankfurt. I'm not in the know, I'm no expert, it's just my thoughts.

Testdrove the Huracan and had no problem with seats. The rear visibility is another issue. Backup camera is imperative.
