I'd like your opinions on getting one of these beauty's after the factory warranty has run out. All of the 16's and 17's that weren't extended are all out of warranty. Would acquiring one be too risky?

    Thoughts?

frankly you don't own a Ferrari out of warranty and expect to not keep a high check book balance.

Cover the car under a Ferrari New Power Warranty. At least most of the big $ powertrain related issues will be covered.

Warranty is highly over rated. These cars are well sorted as you can tell from the lack of problems that they have. Now, as Viperjoe said, the power warranty can give you peace of mind if you are so inclined. I bought that "just because". But I will not be renewing it when it comes due. Just take good care of it and thats the best insurance.

Overall the 488’s are fairly reliable though. Reading the forum you will find the same general issues….sticky buttons, terrible OEM battery that can lead to all sorts of random issues, and of course the current brake recall. Engine or DCT problems are relatively rare.

All 488 should still be within the 7-year maintenance period - so at least you could check that maintenance has been regularly taken care of by official dealers. If not, it may be a warning signal...
