Goodness me. Some of these renderings are utterly tasteless and this one is as horrific as I have seen.

Also, I don't understand why people are trying to out-design Ferrari when the 'hardcore' 488 is still at least 3-4 years away.

One of the problems with most of these internet renderings is that they're produced by people without the depth of understanding that the designers at Ferrari and Pininfarina bring to bear upon their work. Hence they tend to produce shallow deigns that are based on nothing more than what they think looks cool on that particular day. Sometimes this can work. Most of the time they produce designs that only appeal on a superficial level (note how few of them ever challenge the viewer...). And that's the stuff that tends to get old real quick. The work of the best designers, the ones who work at Ferrari and Pininfarina, will be born of things that the casual observer will never notice, informed by a deep understanding of the structure and history of design (shoulders of giants and all that) and a sense of the emotional response that design can elicit, even in the subtlest nuance. Much like a good screen writer, as part of the process, will give his best characters a backstory that you never see on screen but which infuses the character with life, every detail you see on a Ferrari is the result of a hundred decisions and a hundred discarded ideas you'll never know about. That's what separates those who know their onions from those that own a copy of Photoshop.

    Well said
design is different from 'customizing' which is what many online designs tend to be, taking parts & pieces from other sources.......some are good, others OK, many not so much

What the average internet Photoshopper doesn't understand is that "Hey, how hard can it be?" is not a design philosophy. :)

    yes indeed
'if it were easy, anyone could do it.........it's not & they can't'
    'talk's cheap'

among one of the many lessons I teach my classes :)
having said all that, I always encourage the i-net armchair designers..........gotta start somewhere
