Nice video! You can certainly hear the difference between the 812 NA engine music vs the Turbo of the 488.

The 812 prototype was really moving and looked very planted through the turns and challenging changing road surfaces. One serious weapon.

With the 812 V12, the logical way to get even more HP without adding Turbos is with some kind of hybrid set up.

With the 488 turbo, the easiest way to gain performance is by increasing boost. I'm sure the 488 GTO will have all the usual mods, light carbon body pieces, weight saving elsewhere like the sound insulation, carpets and seats. Maybe the 488 GTO will switch to electric steering since this can save weight and allow for greater integration with suspension and side slip control.

IMO the logical way to get more HP out of the "new" 6.5L V12 would be through the same time trusted methods used to increase the 651HP V12 of the Enzo to the now 789HP V12 of the 812. The most illogical way would be to add the huge cost, weight, complexity and therefore reduced reliability of giant batteries and electric motors. Its a sign of the times that even Ferrari enthusiasts jump to suggesting gadgets rather than Ferrari's world leading NA engine design capabilities. They are the masters at it and its what we love about them.

Why did LaFerrari have electric motors and batteries?

But I like your way too. Maybe the replacement for the 812 will go on a supermodel diet and be the first production model with a carbon chassis. Otherwise will it grow to 6.9 liters? (I'm assuming that with the 812 we are close to the max hp per liter output.)

let us hope for rear wheel steering on the 488GTO. it really makes the GT3RS much more agile.

Today I was invited at a Ferrari event at my local dealership. We test drove a bunch of 488 GTBs and the GT4 Lusso, as well as having the opportunity to see a pair of a white F12 TDF and La Ferrari Aperta.

Since I have a 488 Spider on order, Ferrari confirmed unofficially that the 488 GTO (name still to be determined) will be presented in Autumn 2018 and first deliveries will be early 2019. Also, only previous 488 owners will be able to purchase the car. This is for Europe, don't know how other regions will work.
Don't know how accurate this information is since it is still very much speculations, but this is what they have told me.

I'm pretty sure that owners who have cycled through say every 2+2 would get one as well if they so wanted. Ferrari places so much weight on those that go out and buy California's, FF's, and GTC4Lussos that I doubt they would be denied.

I would agree with you on this. Im sure this is part of the reason you have gotten allocations for the LE cars.

i was in Maranello today and saw two heavily disguised 488s driving around, close to the factory. one was black and had the front covered up with white tape and the other one was red, also the front covered up (maybe even extending the cover into the mid section). the sound of both cars was unremarkable, albeit they were far from full throttle.
btw, i committed the maximal sin and parked my 991 GT3RS infront of the factory:::)))) got a lot of thumbs-up from ferrari employees though:::))))

How's the sound compared to 488 GTB?
And I think that was a 991 GT3 RS, right?

thanks guys!!!! i really like the GT3RS but should have taken the 458speciale:::(((( actually i only went over to porsche due to a dispute with the previous local ferrari dealership owner but the new dealership is excellent and i shall get a 488GTO from them.
i do like the sound of the 991 GT3RS a lot, it beats the 488GTB in my book (as far as sound goes). deeper, more mechanical, just more going on sound wise. other than that the GT3RS feels more tossable, more go-cart like than the 458/488. but it is certainly not as fast as the 488 in terms of straight-line acceleration.
my previous 458italia felt comfy, almost like a rolls royce compared to the RS, the porsche is possibly even more hardcore than the speciale.
