i´m wondering if it will create worse reflections on the windscreen. why no McL, Porsche GT, Ferrari offers headup displays... they could be FULLY adjustable quite easy. it would be an easy task i guess. and would have also a hudge marketing power. just look at all the fuzz the 720s speedo created... i imagine a head up display quite handy. also in those type of cars. its a quote. but not a serious one. or said based on a specific event... still funny
Answer to Paul Frère, who was wondering about the limited top speed of the 250 Testa Rossa on the Le Mans straight. Wonder what Enzo would have thought about the new K Evo?
I think the name will be 488 Challenge Stradale and not GTO. Because the engine is from Challenge car
If you think about it, there is some logic to GTO. This car is supposedly heavily influenced by the challenge cars; GT3, GTE etc. - more so than the previous cars. The ‘O’ in GTO stood for ‘Omologato’, in other words a race car homologated for road use. They seem to have majored on that in the presentation that was leaked. And they are trying to use allocations to reward Challenge owners and encourage others into race and track driving. 488 GTO, alongside 488 GT3 and 488 GTE, seems appropriate. I suspect they will not call it GTO because so many people are calling it that, but perhaps that was their idea originally.
My 2 cents on the name: 488 Monza Why? That is where the Finali Challenge series took place last year and the car has some Challenge DNA. I would love to be proven wrong if GTO is indeed the official name
They usually don't repeat a name within that short of a period IMO they'll either go back 25 plus years or completely new name
Should they call it the GTO?........yes, it truly deserves the nameplate Will they call it the GTO?........probably not, they will pick something boring Do I want them to call it the GTO?........like you wouldn't believe!!!!!
I doubt it will be called that. The marketing department doesn’t need it to help drive sales. As the 599 GTO demonstrated so clearly, that name has nothing to do with the cars purpose and everything to do with shifting units... sadly.
Wrong about last years finals. It was held in Mugello. This year's finals will be in Monza. But IMO, it won't be a deciding factor for this car's name. I am also leaning towards Challenge Stradale or even GTO
You are right; checked too fast where it took place and where it will take place and got mixed up but Monza still a possibility... Would love GTO though
I think its kind of interesting about the name, because on one hand, the name really does matter. On the other hand, it matters not one bit. I'm happy to let them decide on a name.
Just one thought: the name GTO would be very confusing as it has been used last time only 8 years ago. Thus it is to fresh to be used again so early. If a future lucky owner of a 488 VS mentions, he has a GTO, everyone will ask....which GTO? 599 or 488? So I believe the name will be different to all mentioned here and a surprise.
see that damn 599 GTO thru a **** into everything.......if it wasn't for the 599 using the GTO nameplate then probably the F12 would have been called the GTO(although I really do like the TDF so its not that bad. If not the 599 or F12 then for sure the 488 would get the GTO nameplate(still might but I'm not betting the farm). How cool would it be if they call it the 488 GTO and in three years we get the 812 GTO.......kind of like the final send off of the Internal Combustion Chamber Ferraris non hybrid assist. Funny thing is this.....everyone complained when the NA V8 went Twin Turbo and some people complained when the V12 LaFerrari had a Hybrid unit. My thinking was, they didn't downsize the V12 they just added a hybrid unit and the V8 Twin Turbo is still a non hybrid engine.......because in the future I see downsized hybrid V12 and downsized hybrid V8 Twin Turbo.......may even( gasp!!) a V6 TT. all of a sudden the 488 GTB dosent look so bad.....
Does a downsized hybrid V12 only have ten cylinders ! One way or another the V6TT has to be coming too
Guys 100% it will not be called a GTO, I think it would be cool etc. but I have a pretty good cleaning lady contact and she says it's something completely different. We will see very soon. K let's stick with 99% because even cleaning ladies can be fooled.
It would be cool to see V6TT in a CF tub car with 800 HP. I doubt they would ever do a TTV6 with Merc's V6 hyper car coming out.
