Agreed.....when it comes to piquing interest in a product by making folks wait there is a point of diminishing returns. However, the fact is that Ferrari didn't state there would be anything revealed to consumers yesterday....it was simply wishful thinking and people jumping to conclusions.
As per ferr9000 the media reveal date was originally February 16 shown in print as seen on the image he provided here... Image Unavailable, Please Login
Correct...but that states "media reveal" whereas I stated "consumer (customer)reveal". Two completely different demographics.
correct me if i'm wrong, but he also said that the date has been changed last Tuesday. so nothing happened, no reveal yet even for journalists. Is that right?
Of course the journalist reveal happened. All standard stuff - journalists would have had this booked in for weeks or even months, which Ferrari dare not change. They would have all been subject to an embargo, which the journalists dare not break, nor should they. All manufacturers work like this and if journalists break trust, manufacturers don’t forget. And for what? To get a scoop and release first....once. The most likely plan is that the embargo will extend until after the customer reveals but before Geneva. This is a familiar pattern and makes sense because customers feel valued by getting a sneak preview. The Ferrari-prepared photos, showing the car as Ferrari want its first impression to be are released before the Geneva photos, which are never representative because they are taken with a wide-angle lens close up.
Perhaps they have decided to do a video game release like the Gt2 RS was revealed, the very turbo charged monster that this car will be out to beat. But the GT2 RS was/is only a video game to all the non-VIP customers who have no chance of an allocation. Priced the same as a 488 GTB, it sold out immediately.
one of my friends made me aware of this possibility yesteday. We were chatting about cars and he told me there's a simulator called 'assetto corsa'. apparently the team behind this software has worked with ferrari, porsche and other brands in the past and they also provide the driving software for their simulators. Anyway, there's a countdown on their website and it runs out on february 21 at 2 pm. it could lead to the unveil of this car but it's a really wild guess.
So the car is going to have a black engine bay like the speciale. Not a red one like gtb, or a copper one like the performante.
Almost as many p—-a names as posts on this never ending thread. We must be in the twilight zone Sent from my iPad using FerrariChat.com mobile app
I've just heard from my team that Ferrari will produce a limited edition 488 Special version for the Challenge drivers I don't know any further details if the car will just have different cosmetics and livery or will have further modifications to make it more extreme. Number of cars and who exactly will get it, still unknown. Will they give it to anyone who just raced once or twice? Will they also count the past drivers or people who race with Ferraris in other series, I don't know yet. We might know about it on Tuesday night. In that case I will surely skip the standart 488 VS and go for this one Please share if have any further info about this car.
I was thinking of assetto corsa also for thr 21.02 surprize. That would be amazing! We migth get a surprize. But it might be Assetto corsaa 2
