That is a very nice rendering. you should do one of the front and especially the rear. ya know.......it seems to me that A LOT of people don't want it to be called the 488 GTO as they feel it isn't right. Unless Ferrari pulls a Ford like with their GT we won't ever really see another homologated GTO like back in the 250,288 days. To be honest, some people don't even think the Ford GT is a true homligation since it differs so much from the street car which is the way race cars are now in days. In fact.......racing expert say the GT Daytona/GTLM cars are on the same tech level as LMP2 cars and close to LMP1 in certain ways. So for me, GTO it is. The F12 tdf never ran in the Tour de France because it was a tribute to the 250 TDF and the 488 GTO could be a tribute to the 288 GTO. ........can't wait till the car is revealed so our discussions focus on car it self. I'm a car nerd so I'll be picking over the car inside and out for technical details just like I do every year(and throughout the year) when the new F1 cars get revealed
It cert Your very talented. It's very exciting to speculate about the car. A part of me hopes I won't love the design because if I do love it I'll then I'll have to hope I'll get an allocation to order one.
I get what you're saying, but I just struggle with the bloodline. Again, I love my 488 GTB, but I'm not going to pretend it is the same hierarchy as the 250 and 288 (two of the greatest Ferrari's ever). To me, it seems like that moniker belongs on the greatest, most exclusive cars only. It even seems out of place on the 599.
When you say exclusive, are you talking about production numbers? Also, have you had the chance to drive a 599GTO?
Remember that the 288 GTO never raced as intended. The 488 GTO, if it is called that and used as the basis of a Le Mans GTE car, or other, will be more of an homologation special than the 288.
Yes, I am referring to production numbers. GTO seems a more realistic name for a Ferrari Supercar. No, I have never driven a 599, though I have no doubt it is an amazing car.
The GTO moniker is the greatest historical suffix that Ferrari have, obviously named after the famed 250 GTO, the worlds most valuable, and to some, beautiful race car ever made. It was then used on the wonderful 288 and the 599 LE cars and was going to be applied to the tdf until apparently there was an outcry that it in some way devalued the 599. It doesn't matter whether the 288 raced or not, whether the 599 was really sufficient of an evolution to deserve it, whatever, it is still the number one suffix they own, full stop. Consequently whatever cars in the future carry it will not have to have a racing heritage or intent, it will be just used as more of a gereric description to suggest this is a very special car to be given such hallowed nomenclature and that it is closer to a race car than road car, a more extreme limited edition evolution. For it now to be used on a standard production car is totally inconceivable unless SM really has sold his soul to the Devil.
FWIW, the GTO, tdf, Lm type names are likely to stay at the V12 limited editions & supercars. I imagine something along the lines of stradale, corsa etc would make more sense. Unlikely to called Superb - seems Skoda bagged that one a while back.
What a great sketch from Ingegnere. I agree that GTO moniker is unlikely, but guessing an alternative name is difficult. Who saw the Superfast coming?
So, what do we have here? 52 Pages and 1285 posts with really nothing new, or? I would say Ferrari is doing a great Job to hide Infos... What I know for sure, I get mine ;-)
Nicely done. Big fan of how you designed the side of the front bumpers and reworked the rear vents, even if I expect the final bodywork to be less extreme than this.
To me, being a technic and design fan engineer, the most important number for this car will not be related to power, but to aero efficiency and downforce kg. About design, I'm sure it will be spectacular, after one week everybody will love it.
Image Unavailable, Please Login Just seen this on their Facebook page.. Just wonder if it’s coincidence that they’re talking about the 308vr panels a few weeks before the 488vs.. could it mean cf panels or subframe ? That would create the necessary weight saving.. then it’s a straight out engine battle between McLaren and Ferrari Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Probably around 705-715 PS. Anyway, also with 750, Mecca will produce a 755LT the day after, so there's no point in making an hp war.
I’ve noticed that their last few images have been the 430 scuderia an engine block and the 308 body panels.. maybe I’m reading too much into it.. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
That's really the problem now both companies have gone turbo with the V8's. The upside is that Ferrari know the bar they have to jump and will thus have to produce a car that is better in all areas and thus makes an unbeatable and special package. The option of just turning up the wick is long gone. Given their expertise and form, I have no doubt the car will be something epic. If it wasn't, they wouldn't launch it and I hear they are already launching it later than intended so read into that what you will.
