488 Model Year Production Cycles

In the past, some cars built even in September were the current model year. Then, it became customary for any car built after the August break and sent to America to be put into the next model year. I have read of cars built in June as well as July that were put into the next model year as well. Not sure how much Ferrari is "managing" their production numbers, how much is that Italian inconsistency, and how much is Ferrari NA managing sales numbers. In Europe I believe they are always on the calendar year production month.
So, October or later should always be "safe". But as I said, September is likely fine too short of an Italian/Ferrari "it happens" response.
Your dealer should be able to advise you on his allocation schedule as to model year production months.

My July 488 Spider build is going to be a 2017. I Hope this helps.

 

Order submission date doesn't matter unless your dealer also confirms you have a manufacturing allocation.

 

My allocation and order confirmation came in November 2 2015. Car was built in March 1,2016 and arrived on the west coast first week of May

 

July built is 2017 , i was in the factory and that what they told + my dealer

Im researching this for 488s. Found something interesting. Found a build date of June 2017 VIN number 228613 = Model year 2017. Found same build date of June 2017 VIN number 229134 = Model year 2018. Im going by the build date on the sticker by the drivers side door. So some time in June model year switched over. Not sure about other model years if the same.
