No update from OP... Todd is not OP, although I suspect that OP's issue is not a motor failure either.
Had the same thing happen with my 2018 488 Spider 3 years ago. Cruising city streets at 45 mph, dash board lit up and engine died. Started right back up and has not happened since. I believe I changed my battery shortly thereafter. Even a relatively new battery can fail, especially if not on the tender consistently.
Hello .The Ferrari Service team were in our City, Christchurch, last week and ran their diagnosis equipment over it . I was advised that it was an earthing problem that created it . and the two earthing locations were cleaned up , the car was back to normal. I am hesitant to accept that this was the problem as the dashboard lights lit up ( including the steering wheel red lights ) and the motor stopped . My car is a 2017. 488 Spyder with 18,000 Kilometres on it. I hope that they can identify your cars problem Did the motor cut out , whilst you were driving? Cheers Victor
Hello Malibu Guy The technicians ran their diagnosis equipment over the 488 and advised that it was a faulty Earth connection..???
Definitely sounds like you need a new engine. Probably a gearbox failure as well. Whatever you do, don't drive it.
So it sounds like 8 months ago someone left you're ground terminal loose... When the terminal popped off the battery all lights would have come on for a second, then nothing. After a few months of driving and bumps the battery terminal came loose, the engine did not blow up
