    Have a 2017 488 ,less than 1000 miles. Last week,when last used before going away,started car and could not release the parking brake. Pulling brake release ,nor putting in gear and attempting to move the car would work.
    While looking up roadside number I started ,and stopped , engine a few times and it released, Anyone else have a similar problem? Owners manual says only qualified tech can release in an emergency.

    Thankfully I never had this issue - I hate this automated system though, it's useless and only calling for problems.

    If it happens again and you're stuck, try going into car wash mode. This releases the parking brake. I don't know if this will get it to release but it's worth a shot.

    But for sure you should get it to the dealer. If it comes on while you're driving its a big problem.

    When it happened were you in a decline? You might have been in hill holder and not know it. But in hill holder it's supposed to release the brake automatically when you start to move under engine power.
