Altough the Laptimes were just an instrument among other facts, to judge the handling, here are the laptimes:

    1. Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991.2) - 0.56,41min
    2. Ferrari 488 Pista - 0.56,93min
    3. Mercedes-AMG GT 63 S 4-Türer - 0.59,68min
    4. Jaguar XE Project 8 - 1.00,45min
    5. Aston Martin DBS Superleggera - 1.00,78min
    6. Lamborghini Urus - 1.01,90min
    7. BMW M2 Competition - 1.02,42min
    8. Alpine A110 - 1.02,73min "

They loved the Alpine regarding handling. Didn't have much great to say about Pista (regarding handling which is what this is about). Loved the 3RS--no surprise there.

The choice of cars tested is perplexing to say the least.Sedans, SUV compared to track oriented cars? Reviews of the Pista are certainly fairly mixed but again, for those buying it, does it matter?

I think the is something we can take away from the Alpine- in a time when it seems everyone is building faster and even more complex cars with much more power, there is a place for a smaller, lighter car. Something "fun". But I don't know if comparing it against the Ferrari and Porsche really makes sense, but I guess its interesting to see how they all work out.

Anyway, for me handling would mean which car makes me laugh with delight the most.

Yes. Simpler toys are sometimes the greatest ones. :) If you want to play with car, you'd like to feel that you are actually in control and having fun. Electronics aids are great (and with overpowered cars are a necessity) but they steal a part of the sheer fun from you.
This world is a much nicer place with such "little" toys like Lotuses, Alpine or MX-5s Miatas. :)
And only one more thing is bothering my mind. How a BT62 Brabham drives. It is a track only car but close to the pure driving idea "you and the machine".
