I've never been an Alcantara fan. If I'm lucky enough to get a Pista allocation I will upgrade to leather. I may do some accents in Alcantara (top of the dash and the upper portion of the doors - similar to the LaFerrari), but I don't like it as the primary seat material. What are your thoughts?

I've had all three options in the past; Technical Fabric, Alcantara and Leather. Without a doubt I will go with Alcantara for my Pista. It's not about weight savings but more about look and feel. It definitely belongs in a vehicle of this class.

So these questions are like asking if someone like vanilla or chocolate ice cream.

I'm with @petretta - for a car such as this, I prefer Alcantara. In general I don't like how leather looks in these cars, but I could see using leather for some details such as a stripe. I feel about the same with technical fabric, but I think it is a little more suited to these cars and you could possibly do some interesting things with technical fabric.

Alcantara. At the Geneva show the alcantara interior was by far a more suitable option than the higher specced leather one. Simply fits the car.

Leather for me. It's a very personal choice, and I get how nice alcantara can look, but I keep thinking that it will not look as nice when it gets worn out. Leather can get a patina (before it goes real ugly), but you dont really get a patina stage with alcantara. I also have the feeling alcantara is more difficult to clean because of its rugosity, and it tends to absorb humidity at a faster rate. Lastly, alcantara is a manufactured product, why leather has a more natural touch to it. Deep inside, I have the feeling Im getting more for my money with leather than with alcantara. Very personal opinion of course!

The seat material in my Scud is a combo of Technical fabric on the seating surfaces with alcantara on the perimeter sections of the seats.
    Looks and wears fabulously.

I don't get the appeal, but that's they beauty of these amazing custom options. We can all create what we like. What's important is that everyone's car is incredible in their owners eyes.

I tossed up leather for my Speciale but was told the 3D technical fabric was only offered for the Scud and Speciale and that it was kind of ‘special’ and unique to the ‘sports cars’ so dealer recommended it. I went with 3D and Alcantara and I’m very happy. As the factory designers has envisioned I guess. I’ve seen leather in Speciale’s and I don’t think it works. ‘Sport’ and ‘Luxury’ don’t go IMO. All the best with your allocation [emoji1303]

If you don't care about resale go with leather.

I have a feeling that in 15 years they will look back on the "alcantera years." Like brown shag rugs and wood paneling of the 70s.
I'll likely go leather, or combo leather with alcantera accents.

I few Alcantara accents are fine, but wall to wall, floor to ceiling? It just looks cheap to me. As mentioned before, I like the touches in the LaFerrari, using Alcantara to bolster the look of glossy carbon fiber and leather.

I can report I tracked my Scuderia over several thousand miles on track and another several or so on the street with full Alcantara interior, did nothing to really clean it, aside from not spilling things in it, and it always looked fantastic. FYI they do make Alcantara treatments and cleaners and they work very well.

It's interesting regarding the LaFerrari. I actually think it has a little bit broader purpose as the flagship/ supercar. The HY-KERS points to the future and its very much a street car. I actually think the special series cars, like the CS, Scuderia, Speciale, and now Pista, are a little more focused. They are about taking a street car and making it go faster and be more fun to drive for the occasional track day. A street car that brings you more of the track experience. Whereas the supercar is more about showing you what's possible with even more exotic and expensive solutions.

I'm not sure if that will make sense to anyone else who reads it, but that's how I see it. So leather in a LaFerrari doesn't bother me at all. But its not my preference in these cars.

Regarding leather being natural, it is, but I find most street car leathers are so heavily treated, they no longer really feel natural, like a really nice leather jacket or leather chair, so to me I don't see them as being much more natural than anything else. However, I will take this trade off because I like the ease of use these treated leathers provide us.

No, it makes perfect sense. I can see your rationale. For me, however, my love for the Pista has little to do with it being track worthy. While I certainly appreciate that aspect of the car, I’m sure I’m like most people - we just think it’s damn amazing. The reality is I’ll never track my car if I get one. It will be a special occasion road car, as I’m sure it will be for most owners. Given that, it should be precisely what each individual likes. I think leather actually compliments the sportiness more than Alcantara. For example, there’s nothing not sporty about my Nero leather carbon fiber goldrake seats in my 488 GTB. But, if Alcantara floats your boat, then you should get it. Obviously, from the poll results, I’m in the minority. The most important thing is to love your car when it arrives.

Yes! What is not sporty about that? They are very sporty! The only thing I don't love about these seats is how the driver's seat has a deeper bucket, they must have a reason, but I wonder why they would make the passenger seat flatter. I want my passenger to have just as much "anti-submarine" function as I do. I do love these seats and I love the pattern.

Thank you. I do like the Pista racing seats. If I’m lucky enough to get an allocation I will stick with the standard seats (not the Daytona’s) but I’ll likely go with Nero leather.

Considering the theme of Pista IMO majority of the interior is best suited with Alacantara
But adding some leather bits will accentuate the interior especially if one intro's a
differentiating color on the leather. Tough to put together but can be very satisfying :)

The most disappointing thing about my Speciale, in fact the only disappointing thing about it...is when getting in there is no olfactory wow...it smells like chemicals.
Every time I get in my leather-drenched F12...I sit there for a few seconds breathing deeply and I smile...pure Italian leather fragrance bath.
To me Ferrari's are about performance, beauty, sound....and smell.

Totally agree. I chose every leather option available on my 488 GTB. While I won’t do everything possible on th Pista, if I get one, I’ll have plenty.

Alcantara. But I'm going to order the wild caught Alcantara, not the generic farm raised stuff. ;)
