I agree. My 488 Spider was like that. I’d choose my 991.2 GT3 over just about any modern exotic currently.

991.2 GT3 is an awesome choice. Particularly in manual :).

2 cars instead of one could be compelling, but IMHO the CS and Scuderia are too close - I'd rather go for a CS (because it's the origin of the breed) and something really different to complement it.

I drove all cars in the race setting and tires were PS4S on the 430. I still maintain that to me the Scud feels, looks, shifts, performs, and sounds completely different than the F430. That said I appreciate the argument of two cars. I very much enjoy my Aston as well.

this is simply not true, if your f430 has carbon brakes, carbon racing seats and lowered suspension, not to mention a different exhaust system, its effectively a SCUD, I have owned both for 10 years +

Noting I have PS4S on all my cars Ferarri & Porsche cars as its simply the best unless u are a 110% track specialist

I have no idea what a pista or even 458 is like to drive but I can tell you I look forward to every opportunity i have to get in the Scud i purchased a few months ago. There have been some expenses but I wanted to get the car near perfect. I spent money on stickies, minor stereo upgrades from Scuderia Audio, new Michelins, Hills balljoints (huge improvement in the car) and also a proper alignment. I was lucky enough to have the dealer complete the annual before I bought it. The car is like nothing else. I also own a manual 991.2 GT3 so if I get the inkling for something more refined and three pedals I hop into that car. They both are very special in their own way but the Scud is way more raw on every level. Its noisy as hell and I am constantly worried about how hot the engine bay gets. Oh yeah, little things break pretty easily like the totally crap window switches (i've had to replace two already). Its just a driving experience that will never ever be found in a new car again. I would say go for the scud and/or CS. It seems like the Scuds are the bargain right now. I saw a regular 430 (albeit a three pedal) just sold for $245K on BAT. I also have noticed a ton of Pistas for sale out there. The prices have to come down on that car I believe. Of course I could be wrong. Good luck in the search!

Absolutely love the car. Plus, Porsche dealers seem to treat customers like family more than anywhere else. Next Porsche I plan on getting is a 997.2 4.0 manual GT3RS. I’ll sell my GT3 whenever I get one of those and then keep the 997.2 for life.

Edit to say I’ve never had a bad experience at a Ferrari or McLaren dealer but Porsche dealers just seem to go above and beyond from my experience. Lamborghini dealer was awful though. At least the local one.

Agreed! I love the 991.2 GT3. Now an RS 4.0..... it likely doesnt get any better than that! I've done a couple relaxed track days with my GT3 and it just loves to take the beating. I can't imagine the Scud would love it that much and I'm paranoid about crashing it (or the heat of the engine bay!). I have had a great experience with both the Porsche dealer here (Champion) and also Ferrari of Fort Lauderdale. They just aligned my car and did an exceptional job. I also have an independent mechanic here that is amazing.

Matt over at Porsche Norwell is by far my favorite person/dealer to buy cars from. I don’t live anywhere near there anymore but I still always buy my Porsche’s from him regardless. Based on your area I’m guessing you usually went to PBIR? I lived down there for a bit. Moving to OC California next month and getting a membership at Thermal.

I’ve owned a CS since 2012 and has never needed anything other than regular services. Nothing has ever broken. Touch wood...

I imagine I haven’t spent more than $ 1500 per year so far (this is in Europe).

The belt service is over $6K at my neck of the woods. Last year I spent $17K on a single trip to the dealer to fix some stuff and perform maintenance.

As I said for most people and for road use 200 lbs is not a huge difference. 200 lbs is nearly the difference between a full tank and an empty tank of fuel or just a decent sized passenger. I bet most people would be hard pressed to tell the difference if given the pepsi challenge.

CS for total ferrari emotional experience.
    Pista for ultimate modern performance.
CS and Scud instead of one pista for me.
money no object is always easiest, all 3.

McLaren needs to get their quality control right before I ever even slightly consider buying one. Other than the P1. Would love one of those no matter what.

its pretty simple.....buy a used 720s from a main dealer.
tack on the extended warranty, and you are good to go.
you will spend less going in, whoop the pista at almost anything, and not have to deal with the ferrari dealer bs......

i tracked mine for 2 seasons before i realized that was not such a good idea, and it cost me $26k to put it back to original shape.
and then i sold it like an idiot.

I had no idea that McLaren extended warranty was on par with Ferrari more or less. I’ll have to consider a 720S. May go 720 and Scud rather than CS and Scud.

Ive got all three (basically, 16m instead of Scud) and I can tell you without question if you’re getting two of the three cars get the CS and 720. Outside of the halo cars the Stradale is the quintessential Ferrari of the last couple of decades, and as Ross said the 720 is virtually unmatched in terms of performance for the money. On the Mac topic I can tell you I’ve had my car from new and it’s been in the shop twice for maintenance and twice for minor warranty stuff. That’s it. These guys claiming QC issues really make me wonder if they’ve owned a new (post 18) McLaren.

I own a Scuderia and a McLaren (newly purchased). In my case i never had any problems with the McLaren, very good quality, a very reliable car.

To the question from the threadstarter: if you want the last lightweight and track-oriented V8 Ferrari, wait for the track version of the Tributo. Otherwise buy a CS or Scuderia now, they don't have the image potential of a Pista when you go to a Ferrari event, but they are much more fun on public roads in relation to the investment. If you want to go to the race track a lot where the Pista is worlds faster than a Scud or a CS, I'd buy something cheap anyway, there are more suitable cars than all of the three. Long story short: if you want to buy a car now, then definitely not the Pista.
