Last week my 488 was sent to my dealer to get some new brake pads (the car is only a few months old, but hey... track days!) Was due to get the car back the following day ready for a Silverstone track day but the dealer called me saying there was a problem.

Apparently there is an issue with the rear brakes and they were unsure how to fix the problem, they spoke to Ferrari HQ who told them not to move the car and leave it as it is until they hear back. Its now been a week with no response, apparently, Ferrari R&D is on the case, with the service manager at my dealer is totally clueless about what the problem is or what to do...

Anyone have any similar issues like this...? I would really like to get my car back!

    Thanks

rear brakes, or rear parking brake?

There are a LOT of things that can create "issues", some mechanical, some electrical...

I know the 458 better than the 488, but cannot recall a systemic rear parking brake issue

I do know that some people toasted their rear brakes by tracking in Sport mode, or by have the TC and ESC work overtime, which damaged the rotors (scoring, glazing), overheated the calipers (rare, but seals can go), et al.

That, or somehow during a brake pad change (which is easy enough to do), they picked up a fault code and could not clear it (pad wear indicator? wheel speed sensor?, and no shop/OEM will send a car back on the road with a "brake issue" simply out of liability concern. For example, if you lose a wheel speed sensor, it will cause an ABS fault, and likely result in a big lockup of all 4 tires (i.e. no ABS). It happens in the Challenge cars, ask me how I know
