Apologies if this thread already exists (I couldn't find it) but now 488 Pista has been revealed I think we need somewhere to collate rumours and views on the 488 replacement which sounds like it might arrive in 2020.
To me it will be fascinating to see what the first of a new breed of Ferrari looks, sounds and drives like !

Hopefully it will get a carbon tub and a higher revving engine.

Am I hearing nails being driven into a coffin? Let’s not bury the 488 quite yet. I, and many others I know are awaiting delivery. ;)

488 is brilliant IMHO you have a lot of fun to look forward to.
My reason for starting this was to crystal ball gaze about the next generation of Ferraris.I think the 488 replacement will be one of the most important cars in the company's history.

There's already been a huge amount of speculation in the 488GTO thread but V6TT Hybrid seemed a popular route

Seems to be a feeling that 2 engine options (V6 and V8 may be offered).Portofino could give us a clue if a V6 tt is offered in that model.

    488 driving dynamics are stellar.
But visually I’m ready for the next car.

I agree with that. Tto me the most logical choice would be a v6 tt as an engine option for the V8 in markets limiting engine size as well as for the dino replacement. V8 hybrid (NA plus KERS) for the 488 replacement. I don't think Ferrari wants to be known for tt Fcars alone and stay in this arms race with Mac. I always believed that the 488 tt series was released to compete with Mac and buy the company time to figure out how to do a NA/KERS at a lighter and lower cost point for the V8 platform.

I am assuming that engine in direct 488 replacement will be hybrid like La Ferrari (ie electric motor boosting a normally aspirated unit but not capable of being driven in electric mode only).
V6 tt seems like the alternative unit possibly in a car badged "Dino" and possibly shorter wheel base.

    Really?
Like 1 day after unveiling of the Pista we are now going to have a thread on the 488 replacement...for speculation for the next 2 years?

It's for those like me that didn't get on the special list to be offered the pista, so we have to hope for next model.

it's much better for all those jumping for joy as they had an allocation for the Pista not knowing how the 488 Replacement will be

The best Ferrari is always the next one.

But the best looking were already done.

    ciao

Imagine a Ferrari above the 488 and below the LaF. What if Ferrari made a CF tub TTV6 to fill this space. Basically along the lines of McLaren 720 which is really above a supercar and below hypercar. They could price this at what 450 and have 700 HP in a much much lighter car...?

I think you’d be better off to imagine a V6 twin turbo with electric motors for front wheels and power slightly above La Ferrari. Forget CF tub.

So do we think no V8 option ?
V6 tt is obviously F1 layout so motorsport crossover which is logical but death of V8 would be sad.

So you are saying the 488 replacement will be close to 1000 bhp ?
Hard to believe but hope you are right

I don't care for a V6 and I doubt it won't be a V8. They have launched a new aluminium platform though, so no CF tub in the foreseeable future.

You have said this before but I highly doubt it. I expect a hybrid TT V8 with some 800 HP and RWD. They know better than to corrupt the driving experience with 4WD and 1000 HP is far fetched; this is the smaller sportscar of the marque after all.
