488 spider at NJport 31/2 weeks why?

I wonder if FNA made their second quarter forecast and are sandbagging for the third quarter?

 

Do you know what status it is now? mine was 92 last week (PDI Completed) and dealer told me should be here in a couple of weeks. This car was ordered 5/2018.

 

What is the last update from the factory photo? what date?

You ordered it in may 2018 and are getting it in june or july pretty fast?

 

I walked into a Ferrari dealer with my wife a week after returning from the Geneva auto show to inquire about getting a new 488 Spider. Sales person told me there was an allocation from a customer that did not want his Ferrari anymore so I went ahead, configured the car and a week later I was wiring the 10% deposit.

This all happened end of March this year, sales person told me I'm getting my car sometime in July, which apparently will be the case. Currently Code 92 (since friday) but original poster claims his car still in NJ port for 3 weeks, so we'll see.

I'm a first time Ferrari customer, no relationship with the dealer and unlike all the stories I hear from other people having to purchase a california first or an used car from the dealer inventory in my case dealer played no games. I received the PIN to access the My Ferrari owners website and have followed the process, including getting photos from the factory. Guess I was lucky or 488's are being mass produced now

 

Ferrari recognizes revenue when a car is released from the port to the carrier (Horseless Carriage, etc.). If Ferrari has met or exceeded their current quarterly financial forecast they will hold cars for release until the following quarter. There is no reason to exceed guidance numbers by more than 10% as it raises the bar for 2019 year/year performance and the street will not proportionately reward them for exceeding guidance by more than that.

This is why the OP’s car is being held up. This also happened last quarter.

It’s safe to say that Ferrari will meet or exceed its guidance for the 6/30/18 quarter.

 

Mine was held up at the end of May for the same reason, nearly 3weeks at port.
They manage the month/q deliveries based on their target guidance.
However, it was only 4 months from order to delivery which is prob as short as it will get for US

Who told you that? Was it a reliable source? Just an opinion?

 

I was hoping I wasn't going to feel the same pain. Got the call from my dealer today that my spider has now been delayed until early July as well. Same story, held at NJ port. I'm on the west coast, so soonest deliv is 2nd week in Jul.

Actually meant to ask everyone on this who was 92 last week if they’re still at 92. I’m going on 4 weeks now still at 92.

It has been status 92 since 6/18, I just sent an email to my rep asking if it has changed. Should have a reply shortly

 

I really am curious what goes on in NJ that gets these cars hung for 3-4 weeks. All the German cars I’ve ordered breeze right through. If 488’s are getting delivered the last few days of Q2, that would indicate the theory of trying to boost Q3 numbers is not the correct explanation.

Well, we seem to be in a very similar situation. Status 92 for almost 3 weeks, also located in Miami. rep told me car 'should' be here this week but did not confirm. This is The Collection in Coral Gables
