Has anyone had their car lowered with the stock suspension components? I had this done with my 458 and loved it. My dealer says they've done it many times. Curious who's done it with their 488 and how they like the results. FYI, I have the lifter option...

Everyone tells me that if you over compress stock springs to a lower ride height the ride quality becomes terrible. Better to get springs designed to have a working range at the lower ride height. I've heard you can get at most 0.5-0.75" drop before ride quality is severely affected. You should also do spacers though imo for aesthetics.

In any case, I just went status 93 on my GTB and I've already bought Novitec and spacers. I'll take some before/after pics and let you know about ride quality (I also have front lifter option). Hope to have the car in 2 - 3 weeks then I'll drive around for a bit before installing Novitec.

For whats it's worth, I lowered my 458 on stock springs (Just over an 1" all the way around) and shocks and loved the way it looked and it didn't hurt the ride quality at all. I know the same can be done with the 488, just not sure how much they get out of the adjustment with the front lifter.

I have done it on a few of them now - if you're not going too extreme you won't notice too much difference in ride quality. Still always recommended to have the proper spring rating when doing anything more than about an inch.

Are you saying you've done it with stock components? If so, how far would it drop front and rear, with the lifter option?

    Thanks

I just got my '14 458 Spider lowered with Novitech and spacer!
I didn't lower it that much.

    I think ride is better.

I'm having my dealer lower my Spider on stock springs and shocks. I'll report back after I pick her up.

Does anyone know if lowering a 488 voids any portion of the Ferrari factory warranty?

If they're lowering Arnie's, and make them adjustable from the factory - I can't imagine that they'll void you for adjusting it.

Is it me or not all the stock 488 have the same ride height? Looking at the gap between the tire and the fender, some cars seem to be higher than others...

We wrote some threads about it .... 458's but seems to be almost equal ...

Either get expensive lowering sets .... or adjust the oem setting 2 cms cheap ...

Does it interfere with the lift system?

I have noticed the same thing at the dealership floor. Some cars ride higher than others. It may be an adjustment they make for shipping. Who knows..
I've test driven several 458 sand it found their transmission mappings and exhaaut baffle calibration to all be a little different. Italian:)

On stock springs correct? How much lower did you go?

I asked my dealer to lower my 458 Spider 15 mm (1/4 inch) with stock springs and they will NOT do it. Quoted me $4,250 for new springs and alignment.

Anyone have photos of stock suspension lowered 1"?

Does this put any of the toe arm, sway bar link geometry out of alignment? I know the car gets aligned after it's lowered but that is just camber and toe. I know on Porsche if you lower you really need rear toe arms that can adjust to stay parallel and you really should do adjustable sway bar links so the bars are not binding up..

How is the lowering accomplished on stock springs? Is it just tightening a preload collar on the coil over spring? If so, I wouldn't go that route myself, I'll get shorter springs or cut the stock ones.
