Yeah I have one similar. It's dead. Time for a new one. How much was yours? Edit: I called Cobra and they said the battery likely collapsed from not being used. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Also how frequently do these have to be charged? Mine has a 12v cig lighter input. Find switched power/ground and keep it charged in the car 100%?
I have the bigger unit from NOCO GB 70. Mind you the GB40 is more than enough. Just charged when I got it using USB port at home. Its good for 70 starts. Hold power for a LONG time. Paid $350 AUD about $250 USD. Just make sure which every you buy it has reverse polarity protection and No spark connection
Are 488 reports of turbo problems piling up over time? https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/488-service-turbo-failure-anyone-else.589526/ Kind regards, Nuno.
Just picking up the forum chat on this as exploring getting another 488 or possibly low mileage 458 .Parted company with my 3 yr old 488GTB early summer and to respond to your question , car suffered Turbo failure at 4800 miles ! . To be fair sorted by Ferrari without question , quickly and very professionally under manufacturers warranty but an expensive game if this happens out of warranty or under a warranty that doesnt provide turbo cover . . Car was being and had been pushed hard when it happend but these cars are built to go fast and accelerate hard so was surprised it failed, hence also looking at 458 . Arguably as forum is not littered with comments re turbo failure I was maybe just unlucky !
I'd say so. Mine has over 26k hard driven km on it, and so far so good. I would not say your failure is indicative of a general issue. You usually hear all the horror stories, but few spend time telling about all the good stuff as we're just humming along.
Good to hear that response as I think 488 is a fantastic and beautifully designed car but had become nervous following my turbo experience . Any other reassuring posts out there to persuade me back into a 488 ?
What a laugh 2.5 months after my post I used the starter yesterday. Called Ferrari , as soon as i can changing the battery. Really THINK if your gunning for the SF90 or LB
I have one with blown turbos in the shop as we speak. Common issue with the shafts snapping mainly from tuned vehicles.
Apologies, I know I'm coming in a bit late here. I don't get on here much, but noted the conversation about 488 turbos. I pulled a near new set (around 2000 miles) off my 488 engine and have everything from manifolds to heat shields available. I have replaced with new manifolds, turbos, external wastegates, etc... so these are surplus to my requirements. Here is the original ad that I posted. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/488-gtb-turbos-manifolds-and-heat-shields.650656/
