Well lets see but I doubt it
anybody who understands the laws of physics says the 488 is the loser, its simply not this much faster than a 458 [ame]www.youtube.com/watch?v=wBu1wZbPALc[/ame]
Richard, give it up man. I'm just trying to be funny. If its slower or faster, it ain't going to make one bit of difference to me. I just feel blessed to be getting one
I went the ghetto route, paid a ton less and for my tastes think it sounds awesome and could not be happier. I did a 6 inch stainless resonator to a 2.5 mandrel x system and the guy did some tweaking of what I'm not exactly sure. Best dollar for dollar investment I ever made. Lol I'm sure the 991 electronics played into it because no way I would have gotten this out of my old 997.2 by doing the same. For me......I've definitely solved the TTS sound problem. The 488 vs 650s vs 458 492kw vs the 478kw vs 419kw 760Nm vs 678Nm vs 540Nm 1,446kg vs 1,384kg vs 1,458kg How can you say the 488 simply cannot be this much faster than the 458? I have been driving my 488 for over 2 months now and I would guess this is exactly the sort of gap a 488 would pull on a 458 - the 488 put simply is in a different league. As for what would happen 650s vs 488 I suspect they would be near as makes no difference even. I have driven both and the delivery is different given the similar spec of both the 488 and 650s - the 488 is more linear and turbo lag is indistinguishable. The 650s has more surge in the mid range but definitely is more prone to lag. Personally (I am biased) I think although the speeds will be similar the lack of lag makes the 488 a superior product.
I thing the more interesting feature of the 911 TTS is the 4-wheel steering which makes them amazingly agile in traffic situations. n
As someone who owned a TTS and 458, and admittadly has never driven a 488, the video's are real. The TTS with four wheel drive is simply faster than the 458 and at best, and I frankly think this is a stretch, the 488 may be equal to the the TTS but I would bet pink slips it will not be faster, with one caveat. I don't know, and it could be possible, that with enough road, at 190mph + maybe the 488 will outpace the TTS, but so what? As someone who has no investment in marque and simply enjoys driving, we need to face the fact that Mclaren, Porsche, and clear the super/exotics are faster. But why does it matter except for ego? Best
I think 650S vs 488 GTB is the focus here as the TTS is not a direct competitor of the 488 like the 650S is, the question remains have McLaren moved ahead of Ferrari in terms of carbon chassis and power delivery
I must say, I'm quite surprised the 991 won. I remember first finding out the when the 997 Turbo beat the F430. Those are some mean cars.
The 488 and the TTS are not even close mate: Ferrari 488 GTB vs Porsche 911 Turbo S PDK (991) [56236169] The 458 is close to the 991 though: Ferrari 458 Italia vs Porsche 911 Turbo S PDK (991) [29794576]
The Macca might have a carbon tub but in terms of engine, Ferrari went to great lengths in order to make the delivery normally aspirated-like. It's as fast as the 650, but in a more linear and lag-free way. Just a superior engine.
Yep......lots and lots of folk seem to smoke the TTS on paper. But as Mike Tyson used to say....... "They all got a plan til they get hit". Cars: 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S Cab
If winning drag races are important to you, one would be wise to avoid the TTS, especially from a stand still!!! Add a tune and exhaust and they become low 10 sec cars
Never drove a Macca, but if the 488 engine is that much superior I don't even want to try... There's lightyears between the 488 and my Speciale in terms of responsiveness. And what really annoyed me with the 488 was the noticeable lag when shifting under full boost.
