IMO the 488 and F12 are not really in the same category....I drove an F12 and while it's an amazing car it's not something I would own for a weekend driver....it may sound crazy but it just wasn't as fun compared to my 458.....of those 3 I would go with the 488....

If you don't like the 650 it shouldn't even be on the list...

For me, F12 vs 488 is no question; easily the F12. Excellent noise, looks brilliant, and did I mention the noise?

I'm not quite sure on the looks of the 488 from certain angles and personally do not like the noise.

Me too I did not like the 488 that much.....will the F12 be similar to the FF I Have ? I mean will I feel that the two cars are similar ? from the test drive I did the F12 was different in terms of power, handling...etc.

F12 sounds and feels better because of NA.
488 and 650S are basically the same, turbo charged. But Ferrari brand is way above the Mclaren.
488 looks better than F12 because of mid engine, especially the rear.
IMO, F12. Because look is subjective, but feel and ear are objective. Another option : Aventador.

I drove an F12 at COTA. Big heavy GT. I liked the 458. More of a sports car. I am skipping the F12 and getting a 488.

You're seeing a theme here - less about the cars, more about what you want to use it for perhaps

If you like the FF (awesome car), the F12 is a close, but faster/edgier +2 seats, RWD version. FF is a highly usable supercar. If you like it, I'd keep it.

488 appears to be a winner based on early reviews, and my 40 minute test drive. The religious debate about turbo vs. NA, and exhaust note, are relevant only to the point that it matters to you. downside? you'll have to wait, and it's expensive.

650 is a great car. Different "experience" - it's great but very different in how it delivers it. Best way to decided is to drive both. 488 drives a like a better 458 if that's the only comparison you can make. 650 can also be gotten, I'd lean towards a nice used one, you'll get it quicker and save a bundle.

F12 is an astonishing car on it's own. Loved ours - but we have an FF (we have kids) and a Speciale, the F12 was both and neither at the same time. By itself, amazing.

I'd go 488 if you plan to keep the FF. If it's a replacement, then would get the F12. IMHO, Aventador in Dubai is more for a guy in his mid 20's looking for attention.

I had my FF for track day at Sonoma. Tested the 650s there. No head room for helmet so top down on the track. The turbo lag was noticeable and dangerous. Coming out of a sweeper onto long straight, the turbo surge broke traction with a fishtail toward the wall. A quick adjust saved it. Another 650s was not so fortunate. He was towed off.
This may not apply to you since you won't be tracking it but I would be cautious with the non-linear thrust of the 650s.
I tracked my FF four times. Now I just bought a '13 458 spider for future track days and top-down cruising. Keep your FF and add to it. I love that car!

I'd say the choice between 488 and 650S will depend on how long you want to keep it and how much you plan to drive it. Would be able to drive a 488 fairly cheap (taxes aside,) but that would also depend on mileage. A used 650S is so depreciated you could drive it a ton and the mileage would have little effect on price.

Keeping each for a long period of time, a more expensive car will depreciate more.

I drove the 488 side-by-side with my 650S for a whole day (thanks to my cool Ferrari dealer). I prefer the 650S...The car has a better driving position and visibility, better steering feel, a more planted front end and I was able to drive it quite a bit faster. The 488 has incredible brakes and gearbox, but it felt looser and heavier. Also the engine note is now as bad as the 650S...Having said that the limit is "softer" in the 488, so it may well be more exploitable on a track. Depreciation is a huge problem for the 650S, but if both cars were similar in this respect I would pick the 650S every day...I have a 675 coming next week so watch this space !

The F12 is a completely different story. One of the most accomplished cars I ever owned. Perfect in every respect, a revelation on track, comfortable on long journeys and top of my list for repurchase if I don't get a TDF after all...What a machine...Ferrari at its very best

If you did not like the 650s then I would not even consider getting it. I would just test drive the 488 and see what you think. We can all tell you our opinions but in the end you have to like how the car drives. I agree with some here with the lamborghini option. If you are looking for that new car then definitely check out the aventador and new hurucan. Also the speciale is not just a track car, it is a very usable everyday or weekend car. The car is just as driveable as the 458, so I would say go drive that too.

The best solution is to make sure you have a mid engine V8 and a front engine V12. That is the ultimate Ferrari collector starter kit. I'm still working on the V12 addition.
