    Thats 2900 miles........

Me Think someone do something funny!

seat bolster piping should stay clean for at least 8-10 thousand miles...

Engine compartment looks @ 20,000 miles

That is one ugly engine compartment. My car has 49000Km on it, and I enjoyed every Km, and the engine bay and interior look better than this car. Hard to believe it's only 4900Km. Did the leave the car outside, in the rain, for a few seasons? There's a lot of rust in the engine compartment.

In general, I would be wary of the shown mileage on GTOs. Several used GTO speedometers have popped up on eBay with between 8K and 15K Kms. One guy actually admitted he replaced it with a new speedometer because the car was showing too many Kms.

Would the seat bolster be worn and the engine 'rusty' because the car has sat for so long with minmal use and minmal care? The leather gets hard and is more prone to crack/wear. If it has done low miles, maybe they never cared for the leather to keep it soft and subtle? The same goes for the engine bay. Moisture in the air can cause the surface rust seen here. Thats what I reckon anyways. If you know what I mean. The 288 is a fantastic car and I envy all the guys thay own one. :)

That is sad to hear. Why the hell would you tell anyone that you replaced the speedo? The defeats the purpose of doing that. Crazy! :)
