First the A's maybe moving to Fremont (good for me) and now the 9'ers telling good ol' Gavin they may be moving?

    Public pressure stunt??

Don't they play that card every 5-10 years in their effort to get SF to subsidize and approve a larger/newer stadium?

If they moved to Santa Clara, where would they build a stadium?

I don't recall hearing about the 9'ers ever moving, but in the past I may not have cared like I do now.

Santa Clara always pops up whenever a team looks to move to the southbay, and not sure why. Is there a hidden field that we all have missed!??!?

Other thought was that they would move to LA LA land.......think that would really happen, again?

Here's some info on the last effort in '97 or so...

I think there are still a few open spaces around the area, but I didn't think there was anything big enough. I guess the city could always exercise eminent domain now that the ED proposition failed.

On the other hand, how can a team called the "49'ers" be located elsewhere than Norcal? Los Angeles 49'ers? Nah.

if they keep playing like they're playing and keep drafting weak players, by all means please leave, and don't let the door hit you from behind... No offense to the 9er diehards out there. They're just not very exciting to watch.

News conference at 10.30am. Guess we will figure it all out then. Or someone will :)

PS- I am in no way a 49'er fan. I just enjoy watching live sports from time to time and really don't enjoy Raider games ;) !

Good news out of all the sports issues today, Bonds is being looked at by the Texas Rangers.

    Peace out Barry.

Hopefully both the A's and the 49er's move to Fremont. I live a couple of exits down from where the A's plan to build a stadium.

Yeah, I used to have season tickets and gave them up when the 9'ers nosedived in the standings. I guess I wasn't enough of a diehard. It used to be that there was a 2-3 year waiting list for season tickets, these days suites and season tickets are left unsold. I don't know why they're worried about a new stadium when they can't fill what they've got now.

The same issue was present down in Phoenix with the AZ Cardinals - the eternal last place team, and a continual monument to the failure of the draft. They played in ASU's Sun Devil Stadium for years with mediocre attendance at best. In fact, at most Dallas and Green Bay games, there were more fans for the opposing teams than for the Cards.

Fast-forward to this year - new stadium in Glendale, NW of Phx, and voila - every game this year is already sold out. Sure, they're still losing, but the whole feel of the team has apparently changed after they got out of the college stadium shadow.

moving to Santa Clara is good news though. Ever make a wrong turn near candlestick? The area around candlestick was one of the reasons why I stayed away from sunday and monday night games.

Sends chills up my spine thinking about one time, turned down a wrong street with my family in the car. Never going near there unarmed again.

I essentially boycott all of SF, and I grew up there. F Gavin.

Who will be funding this? Santa Clara county is already taxed enough! Parking will also be a ***** if they plan on sharing the asphalt with Great America! I would guess we won't see a new 49'er stadium in ten years. Also, look at all the money that was 'wasted' (IMO) on the Stick a few years ago. All the money in the world can't put a dress on a pig!

I think the smart money is to have the Oakland A's team up with the 49'ers for a joint stadium and event center. With light-rail that runs to Tasman and GA pkwy, congestion could be at a minimum.
