Does anybody know what newer 17 or 18" Ferrari wheel can be made to work on an 89 Testarossa?
Hi, The later 512 tr 18" wheel will fit as will the 348 GTC - 512 option comp Speedline 18" Wheel. Both are available new but will be expensive, you will also need a Fitting kit from Hill Engineering in the UK to fit them. Hope this helps. Regards, Phil.
Why? The knock-off single lug wheels look so much better! You can get larger knock-off single lug type wheels at www.GaRedCars.com .
Do you really want him to do a retrograde conversion back to the center lock wheels that fall off? An 89 came with the better 5 lug wheels that always stay on.
Why do the TR's have such an issue with the single lug wheel, but the 512's it doesn't seem to be a problem. Heck, the early cars had knock offs that you used a brass hammer to tighten up! Just how much torque can you get out of one of those anyway?
The are as a result of a then current federal requirement, different design. The 512 and previous had a large nut, worked perfectly but a desk jocky in Washington required Ferrari to switch to a bolt. When they were allowed to go back to the nut design (F40) no more problems.
I put on a set of 360 18" wheels on mine I just had to order lug bolts 5mm longer. 18X10 in the rear and 18 x 7 in the front
