Kinda, sort of... Mike Tyson led his own downfall because he is not smart enough to manage his own affairs. And he surrounded himself with parasites such as Robin Givens, and Don King. It's not his fault because all he knows is boxing. He trusted the wrong people after Cus D'Amato died. MC Hammer was too compassionate and hired everyone to be on his entourage. He tried to help his people out by giving a lot of them jobs, and getting them working. It was good fo him to do this, but the reality is that he couldn't sustain it, and that is what bled him dry of his $$$. I'm pretty sure that 50 Cent remembers these two prime examples of how high flyers can fall back to the ground, and that he has taken measures to safeguard his empire from a similar fate.
I like the orange Vitamin Water. I don't hold any illusions about it providing any healthful benefits, I just like it every now and then. In general, though, I don't drink sweetened beverages that don't contain Tequila.
Interesting story. However, not to "hate" on 50 Cent, but what needs to be respected here are the true businessmen behind Vitamin Water. At some point they went out and made the deal with 50 and the others to endorse a product with the hopes the brand would grow... sure those of us on the outside can look at the headline of 50 Cent making millions off the deal, but behind the sceans, the guys that used 50 Cents image to market the product will be making a LOT more than 50. So good for those guys making it happen, and good for 50 having a piece of it because Vitamin Water might not have been what it was without 50's image in the marketing.... but I wouldn't rush to say that makes 50 some kind of business mastermind.
And wasn't it Sammy Hagar that started a Tequila company (Cabo Wabo) a few years ago for next-to-nothing and sold it for 80 million just a month or two ago ? Nothing wrong with that, I'm sure all of us would like to have the Marketing skills of a Gene Simmons or George Lucas. Or even 'Fitty-Cent'.
Just $80 million? I would of expected other sales in that industry that the brand would of landed a bigger pay-out.
