    Hi all,
in my quest for a 550 I'm getting a little confused over a couple of issues.

The first of these is the seats.
What exactly does a standard seat look like, and how does the daytona one differ ?
Some cars are advertised with daytona seats have plain barred recesses, and others have stitching and holes in there. Yet others have this strip in a contrast colour with holes.

Next, the standard radio/cd. what years had sony and when did they swap to becker (or vice versa).

How does the satnav work in these - does it come up on the clocks somewhere, on the radio face, or speak to you ?
I've not managed to find any info on this at all.
I appreciate its ~15 year old technology, but I'd like to know how it should work, so I can ensure it does when I view the next car :)

    Many thanks in advance.

    Cheers,
    John.

    What sat-nav !?!?

Sony is cassette only - Becker could be cassette or CD

aaaaaahhhhhh, Now that may explain it !

I looked at a car with becker radio and 6 disc changer in the boot.
I was told it had satnav, but they didn't expand on how it worked.
Maybe they just fed me a line and I took it...

There are later variations of the Becker CD that have early sat-nav - if you really need to know how it works in the unlikely event of it having been retrofitted download the manual at index - similarly you can download an owners manual here : All Ferraris

Ok - tiny picture but that may have the much later Becker fitted with the rectangular buttons http://www.beckerautosound.com/ferrari/6111%20index.html

I cannot believe there isn't a picture thread somewhere here answering the seat query

Seats are actually quite simple. The "standard" seats have the plain bars going across. The Daytona seats have the bars with the holes and more prominent stitching. They look a bit similar, and are often confused.

This ~ Fall 2000 option list provided by one of our UK FChatters does not show sat/nav, but it could have shown up in 2001 because it was available on the 456M and 575M.

Seats were standard, Daytona (with or without contrasting stripes, an unlisted option) and the CF back racing seats that were manually adjustable.

The standard seats are often advertised as Daytonas when they are not, for the 550 and 575M. On the 550 easy to tell the difference because there is a vertical strip down the middle on the Daytonas and only a seam on the standard seats.

Standard, Daytona, Daytona with contrasting stripes, and CF racing.

    thanks for that Terry.
At least now I know some of those I've seen are standard seats.
The carbon ones look nice, not seen any of those in any of the cars over here so far.

Daytonas have the "holes". Standard seats do not.

Frankly, I think the standard seats in the 550 are really nice, in contrast to cars like the 360 and 430, where the Daytonas are a marked improvement.

John- Just remember, the racing seats are all manual adjustments. Some people love them, others...

Also strongly suggest you sit in the standard and CF seats. Some guys find the CF seats not be be very comfortable.

Thanks Terry, that's like the last one I saw, but creme with red strips.

Allan, thanks for the thought. I found the same with the Porsche gt3 sports seats, really nice for short journeys but you just can't move and on a long trip they become uncomfortable. It doesn't help being broad shouldered (best not mention the waist line ! Lol)

I found that the seat in my 993 hit my sciatic nerve; pretty uncomfortable. I found myself squirming after driving 20 minutes. That's why it's important to check it out. Now the seats in my 456MGT are a different matter; I drove from San Francisco to Portland in one day and I felt fine afterward.
