Anyone have the 5K service? If so what did it entail and how much was it?
yes, i had they downloaded a new software for free and oil change its not much help since we'r in different country, anyways it cost around 400 dollars
Unless there has been a significant change between the 360 and the 430, the 5K service should run about 2K assuming that you have everything done that the factory recommends. For example, most (all) of the underpanels need to be pulled to inspect radiator lines, etc. I had a breakdown which I can't find. Doesn't the service book spell it out? Marty, call Kelly and he will detail it for you. Having said that, I suspect alot of folks have the oil changed and live without the rest. ***Found the list: OK--got the service breakdown--I am interested in your further opinions. The first is the item, the second is the hours listed. What was faxed was called 5K Service Breakdown--Inspection. SD2/1 hour Lube all hinges/1 hour Nut and Bolts/1 hour Headlights/.5 hours Cooling System (includes center pan removal)/.9 hours F1 System/.5 hours*** Ignition System/.5 hours Fuel Injection/.5 hours Brake Reserve Level/.2 hours Battery Connection (includes starter terminal)/1 hour Seat Belts and Head rest/.5 hours Road Test/.4 hours Timing belts adjust (includes seat and trim removal)/7.5 hours Drive Belts/1 hour Wheel bearings and Suspension(includes R&R wheels)/2.2 hours Steering Rack (includes front pan removal)/1 hour ***I don't have an F1, I have a 6 speed. Total 19.7 hours, but they gave me a package price of 16 hours. I assume this, at $110/hour, plus the oil change, equalled the final charge of 2010.77.
yea, i'm just saying mine is F1 not 6 speed, because i got confused with scotty's inspection list, oh my god, i dont think they did anything of those on my inspection, i'm reading the reciept now--- 5,000km service adjusted micro switch for window oil filter cartridge Helix ultra oil thats it !!!!!
I am not referring to Scotty's inspection list. Mine is also a F430 F1. My service manual states that the first oil change and oil filter change should be at 10,000km or after one year from purchase date, whatever comes sooner. Just verifying with you. There is no 5,000km service. I don't think your service manual should be different than mine. Afterall we are both in the same region.
in other words, they ripped me OFF because i called the dealer twice before taking the car, and when i took it i asked them too, and all of them said (yes, every 5000km you get the car for service) so, the US spec service every 5000 miles, and Euro spec service every 10,000km
Yes, anyway, it's no big deal Flex and it won't harm the car. I was thinking of changing my engine oil as well at 5000kms with our high ambient summer temperatures and bad traffic.
All the cars should have the fluid changed once a year regardless of milage, and every three years have the major, thankfully on the F430 we dont have to replace any cam belts. We charge between $1200 to $1800 for the annual service on 360/430 but we take 2 days and change all the fluids and do remove all the pannels and covers for a proper inspection and lubrication as required, remove and clean all the air and dust filters, evac and recharge the a/c, etc, etc, there is no rushing a real service, be wary of anyone doing it "on the cheap"
Engine oil and labor are cheap here in the Middle East, that is probably why the first annual service for the F430 is cheaper here than in the US.
I paid $1100 for my 5000 mile check up. They change the oil and replaced all the fluids plus inspected all hoses and lines. $2000 seems awfully high.
It seemed high to me until I got the list. The price seems to be in the ballpark given everything that is called for. It could be a long and reasonable discussion regarding whether it is all necessary, if the times quoted are really the time it takes, etc. But doing everything that is called for is certainly a big job. I wonder, since I posted a similar thread regarding the cost of this about a year ago, if all those folks whose 5K service was just an oil change will be hamstrung if they need warranty work? For example, if you have a belt failure will you be covered if you didn't have them inspected at your 5K service? (Obviously this applies to the 360 and not the 430.)
I frankly find the ferrari service schedules as overkill. Besides the high reving engine and trick f1 transmission, the rest of the car is no different from many other cars on the road. I believe checking the fluids and changing the oil should be all that is require for the first 15,000 miles, but what do I know......
Afte the first 5K service, the manual calls for service #2 at 15K, service number 3 at 30K. However, oil changes and other fluid changes are called for annually regardless of mileage. So, I must conclude Ferrari thinks their motors will live with 15K oil change intervals. The schedule does not look much different than a Toyota. Dave
