Should I wait another year for the new Z06? or just get a C6 and upgrade it? C6.... I can get one for around $50k... and can do about $7k worth of upgrade (Corsa Exhaust, new springs, more HP, etc.) Z06.... It's going to have 500hp....
Patrick, What does your heart say? Mine would be saying Z06............ (Former vette owner '87 4+3 z51 )
Z06 FOR SURE !!! You would not be happy the day you see a Z06. I would wait a few years after the into of the Z06. Chevy has historically bumped a new Corvette models output, a year after into. They also did this with the 03 Z06. + you will get a much better deal. You can forget getting a "deal" on a new Z06. Also: With the Z06 it is more than just a big engine. Look at the list of Z06 hardware.
Wow.... I'm surprised to see that every single one voted for the Z06.... I did visit the dealership today (since I had to pickup my Z28 from the service) and test drove a red C6... Was quite nice but there were a few things I didn't like, such as the steering wheel (I think Z06 has a different one), handling (was a bit funny; maybe because of the leaf-suspension it has), and the salesmen's sales pitch.... (he was keep on saying that he sold the most # of Vettes in the U.S.... which I don't think is true). Here's the buildsheet of the car. I don't like the $1,000 towards OnStar, Sat-Radio service, and $1,400 for the Nav system. Also this one didn't have the Performance Package... I guess I'll have to wait a year to see/buy the Z06. Hopefully the Z06 would be much better. Image Unavailable, Please Login
ZO6 AND BORLA RACING EXHAUSTS IN 2007, IF YOU WANT AN UPGRADE THEN, ILL CALL REEVES CALLOWAY MYSELF FOR YA!! WAIT.. SINCERELY BRUCE ... 88 CALLOWAY, 92 ZR1, 96 LINGENFELTER GT
i don't know how you feel about your privacy, or if will ever happen to you, but OnStar has the ability to listen in on you, even if you haven't touched the damn thing.........personally i don't like the idea that someone can listen to me in my car at any given time.....just my $0.02 about that..... now.... Z06 all day, everyday!!!!!!.......and mod that
Hehe, I really dont see a problem with Onstar, if you ever found out about it (in which it would actually affect you) you could sue GM for tons. And if you didnt find out about it, it would never hurt you.
I voted Z06 - from what I've read, it may just be the best bang for the buck on the planet. Not that it's inexpensive - but, the performance numbers speak loudly and clearly ....
Z06! This is the first Corvette I've ever been interested in. If I still feel that way after I see and drive one, it might end up becoming my first American car (I'll wait til the second model year though).
Your instincts would be correct. Number 1 is Kerbecks Chevrolet (http://www.kerbeck.com/) and Number 2 is Les Stanford (http://www.corvettesbyrickdaniel.com/). Maybe the salesman forgot to add, "I sell the most 'Vettes in the U.S....in my dreams?" Have you only test driven an automatic? The one thing that keeps preventing me from stepping into a C6 is the shifter - feels really clumsy, awkward, and requires too much force. Compared to my friend's S2000 and a (admittedly brief) drive in a 997S, the 'Vette's shifter is really poor. I have an auto C5 and had been hoping that GM would have fixed the manual in the C6, but so far my prayers go unanswered...http://ferrarichat.com/forum/images/icons/icon9.gif Unhappy
Thanks guys for the inputs. I test drove both auto and manual. I must agree that the manual shift in the C6 is not that great. I hope they fix that for the C6-Z06. The auto was good, but I think I'll stick with the manual for the Vette. The appearance option (I think that's a dealer option) was nice. They painted many parts in same color as the body color, such as the plastic piece around the center break light, a small piece behind the door handle, and a couple others. I am not a big fan of chrome wheels, but the 19" factory chrome wheel on a red C6 really looked sharp. What color do you guys think is the best color? I've already had two silver cars, so I'm thinking about anything but silver (although silver looks pretty good on the C6). I'm thinknig about red, yellow or black.... They have a very interesting orange color, but I think I'm going to get tired about it pretty quick.
On the choice of color...I would say definitely black. I have seen a C6 in that color and it looked great, however black is very hard to keep clean, so I'd keep that in mind as well. Yellow is too flashy IMO, I'd go with the black even though it can be a pain to keep clean.
I totally see where you're coming from. There are SOOO many running around in our town that the novelty has expired. I'm now excited about the Z version. I hope they don't over produce that one. Every kid in highschool will start buying them if that's the case. (Nothing wrong with kids buying them... just that it starts to desensitize the experience/feeling of when one is seen on the road) my opinion...
Riding my bike earlier this morning and saw three Black C6 corvettes. Looked slick, pulled into the coin operated car wash. Looked nice, went by pretty fast so I didnt get the best look at them
Wow... so far 95% says Z06.... Yeah, after doing some research, I realized that Z06 is not just about 100 more hp. It's got so much more! I think I'm going to wait for the new Z06 to come out. Thanks for your inputs, guys!
EZ Choice : Z06. It is Head & Shoulders the Superior Machine !!! Definitely Black. The New Velocity Yellow is much Brighter than the Millenium Yellow. Here are some Pics from the L.A. Auto Show. http://imageevent.com/Face440/LAAUTOSHOW
I don't know how rich y'all are, but I'd find it hard to justify another $25,000. for the Z06. Of course, if I made Bill Gates look like a bum, I guess I'd spend the $75k at the drop of a hat.
Nice pictures!!! I think I might go with silver after seeing those pictures! I already have a silver Z28.... Hmm.... two silver cars in the garage?

I don't know if you have money to burn, but the differences between the two base prices is over $30,000. By the time you get the Z06 out the door it will cost you more than $80,000. Everyone can sit and tell you that the Z06 is superior, but the bottom line is do you want to spend that much on a Corvette. For most Corvette owners the price tag on the Z06 blows the roof off of their consumer market. Remember tha the Corvette has always been a working man's performance car. Once you move into this price range you are now competing with the likes C2/C4 Carrera's, SRT-10 Vipers, Maserati's, Mercedes CLK 55, Jag XKR's and BMW 645's (to name a few). I would think twice before spending $80,000 for a Corvette that isn't tuned through the roof. JMO. Brad
