Just got my car back from a local Ferrari Mechanic and am pleased to say that overall, the car has a clean bill of health. The one issue that stood out, was the Transmission. This to me wasn't a huge surprise as I had been hearing grinding noise when downshifting from 2nd to first. All other gears shift fine. With this said, it appears my car will need to have the transmission rebuilt (1st gear synchro replaced?) Does anyone know approx. what I am looking at cost wise? Background on car, has a new clutch that was installed in 2023, F1 Gearbox, 51K miles, new heat exchanger, fluids recently drained and replaced.

Be very careful that your PIS is not just set too low. When that happens, the clutch does not completely release and you can get grinding, especially in the lower gears. Your new clutch makes that suspicion seem more possible. On level ground, select 1st gear and see if she creeps forward on you. That means your clutch is dragging.

If not, someone else can chime in because the disparity between the GL5 the rear end needs and the GL4 the gearbox needs can be rough on synchro rings.

Before I bought my car the previous owner had the 1st/2nd and 3rd/4th synchros replaced for about 15k in 2017.
