50th Anniversary Meadowdale Raceway Saturday Sept. 27th.. http://meadowdaleraceway.homestead.com/ Dave http://512bbi.com Image Unavailable, Please Login
With all the cruise nights done for the year, this looks interesting. Anything for end of season drive time!
I think I will attend and shoot some photos. I used to regularly ride my mountain bike around there 20 years ago. I am pretty sure it was private property (then) and considered trespassing. It was impossible to follow the course because it was so overgrown and washed out in parts. Nature was reclaiming the place. In the winter, some guys I rode with wore wetsuits so they could ride through the the icy ponds. I wonder if, or how much, it's been fixed up / restored since.
Go to there site you can see the current photo's pretty cool.. http://meadowdaleraceway.homestead.com/ Dave http://512bbi.com
We had an FOC function there a couple of years ago. Walked the track. It was interesting to see how much still remains. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96243&highlight=meadowdale
Just an FYI. In reading the brochure for this event, it appears they are looking for "spectator" vehicles 1970 and prior and cars that did/could have raced there from '58-'69. Not to say that this still wouldn't be worth attending though.
I sent a note to one of the organizers of the event asking about Ferrari parking. Here is his response: "We are going to have special parking for interesting cars on the front straight next to the show cars. Cars in the special parking area will be able to come and go as they wish on a space available basis. They won't be an official part of the display. Ferraris will be welcome in this area. Common cars and mini vans, No." I told him I would send a list of expected cars, so far: Twinone - 308 Gerry328 - 328 Anyone else?
The folks running this event told me the Augie Papsts Scarab is scheduled to be ther along with others from that first race. Jim
Suburban sprawl. People didn't like the noise of the racecars. DOT offered special license plates just for this event. I was considering going but my car is too young. Oh well. The scarab was also at the Kohler International at Road America this summer.
Your car is not too young, my contact indicated any Ferrari would be welcome in the special parking area. Hope you come out, looks like great weather for a drive.
Thanks, no, just some stuff that needs fixing. I start to understand what the Forza buyers guide about the 308 meant when they wrote "the 308 series is getting a bit long in the tooth". At some point I'll have a brand new car because everything will have been replaced by a new part. To return to the thread: Please take pics and show them here. I bet they have some nice memorabilia for sale at the stands. I saw an original programme of the inaugural race on ebay, but lost the auction. Oh well.
Fun show, a great selection of cars, perfect weather. I should have taken more photos, Daryl had his GT 40 and JP365 was there with his 365 GT 2+2. What piece of road are you on with the 328? Is that actually the start/finish line of the real track?
Do not know, it was marked as such, and seemed close to the correct start/finish line. I few folks were taking their cars there to take pictures, seemed like a good idea. Although I believe my car is pointing in the worng direction. It just looked better pointing that way.
I had to change my plans on Friday night so I wasn't able to make it to Raceway Woods. I was called to help some friends in West Chicago. Afterwards, I stopped at Augusino’s - every time I've been there, I see a Ferrari. Maybe even the same one? http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?p=138069072&posted=1#post138069072
