Last weekend at the Goodwood Revival I saw this lovely Boxer and at first I thought it was black. But in fact it's a very dark shade of blue. Much darker than Blu Sera.

I asked the owner what colour it was and he said it was "Blu Schwarzes". Or at least it sounded that way (he repeated it a few times).
In direct sunlight it turns from black to blue with a hint of purple in it. I saw the same car many years ago, see second picture which shows the purple more clearly.

Anyone ever heard of this colour?

Nice color...last picture it seems to be with black below the waist, but in the other pics you see it is not. Have no answer though...

Correct, one with boxer trim one without but the same license plate. Nice colour.

It is the same car (s/n 30313). On the old picture (taken in 1999) it indeed looks like a boxer trim, but I have other pictures and it's not. Mind that it's a scan of an old analogue picture, so colour gets lost. The colour looks black in the shade, only when the sun hits it directly it shows the purple/blue hue.

    This is very true.

I drive often a G wagen by MB with the same colour with also some metal flake in it.
On a cloudy day it looks like black diamond ,deep purple blue in bright sun light and black at night.
Now this car I use ( I even hunt with it) and if I was told right is glasurit also with clear over the paint.
The original single stage Glasurit on my 84 BBi produces a golden hue in the shade and it has tons more depth than modern paints with clear.
Nothing compares to the look of the single stage Glasurit with out clear of the mid eighties on these cars in smoothness and depth.
