512 BB why so many low mile rebuilds?

    As I look a ads, I see these references to engine rebuilds on cars with less than 20k miles. I would appreciate some insight as to why it is necessary to rebuild such a low mileage engine.

    Not driven enough, not the real mileage, not really well maintained, the car is tired, etc, etc etc. The motors are good for 80k

    On many, the carbs seem to run rich and the excess fuel washes the oil out of the bores; thus more engine wear.

    Otherwise, the flat 12s are stout, in a regularly driven Testarossa they go to the moon and back.

    As well, 30+ years of even moderate use may suggest a rebuild as rubber seals harden.

    some of these cars have had "odometer" problems
