Need your help, guys. I probably did not do the search properly, but could not find a discussion on restoring the bbi stock wheels. Finally received four new vintage Michelin TRX's for the BBi #46189. Many thanks to Longstone Tires. One of my wheels has some flaking paint, and I'm considering trying to match the one wheel to the other four, or redoing all four. Problem is the the 'Ferrari' print or decal? Can it be reproduced? I'll also plan to have any balancing weights moved to the inside of the wheels.
    Thanks for your help,
    Mike

Thanks. I assume the decal paper is easily obtained from an office supply store. However, I did find some thru Berlinetta Motorsports Ltd.

I have wondered what the metric wheels composition is. Are they magnesium, mag/alloy, or samething else? Is there a source that defines what they are?

I am interested in how those wheels were finished by Campagnolo. I have heard when you paint or coat magnesium, it is difficult to make it last as the magnesium is very porous.

31 years later, the finish on my wheels doesn't show the same severe breakdown the magnesium intake of my 928 showed after after only 16 years. If the are some Mag alloy, Campy did a good job.

The carb boxer wheels are a Mg/aluminum mix as are the 308QV wheels to 85 then they switched to aluminum on the 328 so the rims were much heavier. You need to put a conversion coating on the Mg rims and they'll last. The script on the wheels is etched or at least thats one story I heard but it could be put on with a rubber stamp? Cant duplicate it with a sticker unfortunately.

My car was built in '83, grey market into the US as an '84. I would assume they are Mg/Aluminum as the carb boxer.
