I just found this. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but does anyone find this bizarre?...
I just found this. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but does anyone find this bizarre? http://hzemall.com/our_gallery/installs/1988_ferrari_512TR/install_bumper.htm Crap ... just re-read thread title ...BUMPER ... BUMPER ... BUMPER
Can you imagine that thing coming up behind you at night? It would look like the mother ship from Close Encounters!
...and I am sure this is their idea of a way to 'modernize' the look of the TR. I don't mean to denigrate anyone's taste, it's just not for me.
You guys are so dam harsh when people modify their cars to suit their own tastes. Why? This is a guy who loves his car. He posted a big thread about the headlight modifications and the paint to his car and he loves it, and in fact, a bunch of other Fchat guys responded, and they thought it was cool too. I figure that if he keeps the car around, and he maintains it, so much the better, because at this point, any TR with over 50k miles on it and/or any mechanical troubles is really not worth fixing except to a purist, because it would cost more to fix and maintain than its worth. I like the TR in its stock form and I've kept mine that way, but to each his own. I think the TRs are great, and if this guy keeps the car around, and he maintains it too, so much the better!
See http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=149848&highlight=paint+tr for more info. I am not a big fan of the lights, but I do love the color.
It's just an opinion on a modification to his car. It's not like we're critiquing his kids or his religion. That said, I'm not a fan of the lighting and wouldn't buy the car. I think it looks overwrought on a car that really doesn't need to be made any more 'in your face'. If he's happy with it, then all is good. It's not like the last TR in existence, so if I do a TR someday I'll just buy a different one.
Y chromosome. Women bash each others' clothing and grooming, guys bash each others' cars. Is this news to you?
If you have a body shop you can try stuff out, they tried too hard. $7K,have the boys install 430,612,or 599 units. That would be Forza.
Notoboy, thanks for your support man! And yes you're right about the cost of the mods versus its resale value (x 3!). By the way, it's an '88 Testarossa and guys like Testarob and Bullfighter are opinionated idiots and should learn to engage their brains before their mouths and start offering up their un-necessary and un-warranted opinions. Some of Bullfighter's earlier posts about corvette owners are just down right embarrassing... As soon as the new alcantara interior and 6 new Koni adjustable shocks arrive i will have the new Custom wheels and big brake kit installed - then I'll be able to post the new dyno #'s that go along with the car's new 24 direct port nitrous system. By the way Notoboy here are some pics of the new front end and i think they look cleaner and more esthetic than the OEM lights (which b y the way are way underpowered for this type of car). I think they look pretty cool.... so does Forza Magazine and one of their writers who has offered to do a feature story on both my car and 90koenigtr's.... So to all you judgemental bozos, why don't you try cogitating on that for just a wee bit before you start spewing any more of your verbal diarrhea? Doc. RED 4RE, I think that those lights look great on the car, and the paint really enhances it. What really matters is that you like it.
1. Your personal attacks are unwarranted. I even looked at Bullfighter's posts in other threads to see if I missed something and I can't see what would raise your ire like that about your TR. 2. The "you couldn't even afford it" card is not played around here, if you want to maintain a modicum of community respect. 3. I like "tuning" on Ferraris. I think they are great customized and intend to build a Ferrari "hot rod" as well (do a 288-bodied forced-induction 308 painted blue with BBS LMs and updated suspension). And while the paint is wonderful and I'm sure the wheels and other gear will be nice, you can't put 14 headlights on a Testarossa and expect all of the feedback to be positive! I would expect only a fraction of readers here will be stoked about it. You'll have to get some thicker skin around here once you get to that point of modifications. They have just as much right to criticize it as you do to flaunt it. 4. The money spent on a modification doesn't validate it's existence.
___________ I've said my piece and stand by my comments.... and u guys r welcome to debate it till the cows come home but i won't be around to listen as this will be my last post. oh and by the way ... your point #1....look more carefully and point # 4. it does to me and that's all that really matters.
Red 4RE> i have to recognize that i really don't like your testa's front end... But the paint job is soo great )) This color is stunning, and it's really good to see somebody taking care of his testa like you... But I think that on a board like this one everyone could give his opinion... So, if you are not happy with some comments, just leave them alone...
As a fellow TR owner I say....Good for You RED 4RE..!! Yes...technically this this is an open forum, so there will always be some negative with the positive. Everything in life is a bell curve it seems. But I would prefere that everyone live by the golden rule - treat others as you would like to be, or expect to be.....treated. I think it's great that you are lavishing so much time and effort on your TR. And I will be impatiently waiting for your next round of upgrades and/or improvements. Are you really going to do the nitrous thing? I've actually wondered about installing a hidden system (maybe an extra 100 hp) on my car but I'm just too much of a chicken to do it. That paint job of yours is incredible...so nice that it exceeds the rest of the car if you know what I mean. So I think your future plans are the way to go. Good Luck and please keep us posted.
