I have removed the control rod 150881 from a 512 TR gearbox and wonder about these 2 holes. Is there any spring/ball fixation? I did not find any of these parts inside of my gearbox. And spare parts catalogue does not show them either.
Are the holes just for the set up tool?

according to spare parts catalogue screw 22 does not hold any spring or ball.

the other 3 rods are hold in position by spring / ball.

Stefan, although your 512TR shift shaft is slightly different from my 1986 Testarossa, below are a couple pics from my shift shaft seal replacement that show no detent associated with the shift shaft. My single hole on the shift shaft end accommodates the 6mm locating pin during reinstallation as detailed in the Testarossa WSM, whereas yours has two holes. Your reference to screw #22 might simply be an oil drain plug shown along with the other drain plugs. My stepped 8mm to 6mm set-up tool is shown, as well as my detent tool. EDoug

Sunny, take a look at pages E33 to E35 of the Testarossa WSM to start with. EDoug
