512 TR Gear oil change

I'm about to change the gear oil on my UK spec 512TR. According to the handbook (chapter D page 6) draining is no problem, but to refill it says fill through plug 'C' until oil is at bottom lip and then introduce 17 pints of oil through the plug 'D' on clutch housing !! I'm assuming this should read 1.7 pints or is it correct?? the main spec sheet says total oil in transmission 9.51, is this pints or litres, it doesnt say................help please.
