on my 512TR i have a slight oil leak from where the gearbox selector shaft enters the engine casing. It looks like i need to change the O ring , part no: 105140, does anybody know if this is an easy job or not !...

when the engine is out it is an easy job
but when inside it is vice versa - but possible

    I'd classify it as easy.

sure it is easy, but a lot to srew when engine is inside and not so good to reach all.
so I would change this O-ring when the engine is out for service except it is leaking very heavy. but if it is not too much dripping I would wait

Actually I find it easier when in the car when I can stand and look at it. The left exhaust manifolds are easier to get to the fasteners when it is in the car with a socket and long extension. Its an easy job.

you are right brian when you take out the engine with the complete frame. then it would be easier and also faster to change this O-ring when engine is inside.
But I never take out the engine with the frame and complete rear axle, always put it out to the top and then all things are good reachable

We are talking about a 512 TR. It has no removable frame.

Sorry but easier to reach than when the motor is out sitting on the parts that need to be removed.

You take a TR engine out the top?
You work way too hard. I'm lazy, I do everything the easy way.

sorry, never was working on a 512TR so have not known that this model has no removeable frame :(

when I would take out the engine with frame I have to do a wheel aligment or minimum a wheel aligment check and for this I´m too lazy

    Why?
It was never suggested by the factory and the frame indexes exactly in the same place every time.
    Complete waste of time.

    You work way too hard.
I sure hope you don't charge your customers for all the wasted time.
