I thought this was also discussed a looooong time ago, but I can't find it anymore. It's about the colour of the rear decklid on 512 TRs. On red cars, the colour can be red, but also black. As far as I know, other coloured cars will always have black decklids.

Does anyone know if this was an option? Or was it done afterwards by the owners? Any ideas?

The 512TR comes standard with a matte black section of the rear decklid. The 512M lid on the otherhand is colour coded as standard to match the rest of the car. If you see a 512TR with a colour coded lid it is becaust the owner of the car had it removed and paint sprayed to match the rest of his car.

Early 512TR's also had the Testarossa script on the flat black panel facing towards the rear, this was dropped later in the run.
