Hi everyone, Just came across a toolkit from a 512tr. Any chance anyone has a picture of one opened so all the tools are visible? I think I'm missing a couple of the tools and would like to see what they look like so i can go back and try to find them. Any help greatly appreciated. Here's a picture of mine with all the tools i have. Let me know if you can tell what belongs in my empty slots. Thanks! Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Are you sure it is for a 512tr? Mine came in a small leather luggage case. If anything , that looks like something from a 3X8.
I've found a picture of my old 86' 328. So it looks like this toolkit is missing the spark plug tool. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Great! So 328 kit? I assumed 512 tr because the guy i got it from, or i should say whos basement it was found in, once had a 512 tr. Or at least what he says it was. Thanks!!
My 1987 TR is leather and has a spare spark plug, USAG spark plug socket, 3/8" universal, 3" extension and USAG ratchet, fuses and light bulbs. Plus what is shown in the previous photo. Ago
I think the OP's tool roll is complete, and concur it is not 512TR but rather TR (by the contents), though could be other like 3X8. The imitation leather pouch was generic, not special made for TR so there should be open slots as depicted. The spark plug ratchet, socket, extension and universal are shown in the SPC as being contained in the jack bag, with just 8 spanners, 4 screwdrivers and a pair of pliers in the roll. Some models of 3X8 had a window crank handle and possibly other additions IIRC. What's not shown in the SPC are the spare Champion A6G (at least for US) spark plugs. I believe there were two supplied, and I have seen them unpackaged and inserted in the empty slots in the tool roll, though mine are still packaged and loose in the jack bag, along with the spare bulb holder, belts (3) and the jack and handles. My jack bag is also imitation leather though I have seen some TRs with real leather. Boxers had nice tool kits and the 512TRs do, seems F was cutting costs in the 80's... I was going to start a thread on this subject but then saw this thread. So my question is, what does a complete 1992 512TR tool kit look like? I have seen the kits listed on Eurospares but they say that the kit they have was not used on cars exported to the US. Plus you have the tire fix a flat bottle with styrofoam inserts, zipper bag and fabric baggy to hold it all. Could anyone here who has a nice kit, please post pictures so I can see what I should be looking for? Thanks in advance for helping!
Tim -- Can you confirm that, even though the tow hook has the correct thread size, it really doesn't fit? On my TR, the hole in the spoiler is too small to fit the collar on the tow hook near the threads, and, even if the hole in the spoiler was/is enlarged so it did fit (which I would never do ), the length is so short that the hoop of the tow hook hits the spoiler itself before the threads reach the female fitting on the chassis (so even machining the collar off the tow hook would not be a solution). Is yours the same? TIA.
Steve, Yes, my original tow hook also has the correct 16mm X 1.5TP but contacts the spoiler before fully threading. I am absolutely convinced this is the hook that came from the factory though, as three other 88TRs I looked at had same short hook, as did yours and several others on the forum. IIRC you, Shamile and others solved with a different lot (early/late?) of the 130993 hook but I instead procured PN 155838 (F360 application) and it has the length needed to clear the spoiler. It is also 16mm X 1.5, I didn't actually measure the length of the shaft but I can if someone needs this info. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Thanks dontilgon for posting that photo! Does a 512TR also have a scissors jack in a leather bag? If so, can I get a photo of it? On eBay I see jack bag/roll kits that include a round fuse box, emergency triangle, ratchet and extensions, other easily lost items included. Can I get a photo of the 512TR spare wheel? Does the 512TR spare wheel have a panel that goes over the spare wheel to hide it? Thanks very much for any help! Making a 512TR complete is an adventure!
Tow Hook: Different size tread for early Trs. It is also short and would not go all the way. For real use better an aftermarket. There is another Fchat thread about it. Image Unavailable, Please Login
It is very unlikely you are the first person to ask these questions so have you tried a search on '512TR jack' '512TR tool' '512tr spare wheel' etc etc for similar previous posts and have you tried looking for these items in the owners manual or parts book at Ricambi or Eurospares to give you a starting point ?
