Greetings! A longshot but does anyone know of a 512BB Rear Clamshell for sale. Alternatively, does anyone know of a specialist that has the bucks/formwork to produce/straighten one? Many thanks.
Not to be mean but I have this nice one as wall art in my shop and there's another one an hour from me in a shop thats been there for 30-40 years with broken tail lights. I needed a pair for another project and found them in Europe. I would call the usual suspects like Eurospares who recently had a modified one, widened arches from a Koenig car I believe. Thanks, Newman! We are trying to source one in Europe but no luck so far. I am aware of the one from the Koenig car you mention but understand that is no longer available. Could you be tempted to part with yours for a generous price? Failing that are you able to let me have contact details for the shop close to you that has one? Many thanks!
if you would be good with a koenig I think koenig in munic still has one or one of his former mechanics, but not sure.
Its an expensive way to go but a good panel beater has no need for bucks. I have worked with a number of them in the restoration business and seen many bodies made with no bucks. Since you are in UK have you been in contact with DK Engineering?
Thanks. The frame is sadly bent and twisted in nearly every direction after the usual rear clamshell incident. My insurers have asked if a replacement clamshell can be located as they are interested in the most cost effective way of proceeding. It may be that the answer is no. My only direct involvement in the process has been to put an appeal out on this website which is in addition to the appeal my garage has put out to the likely specialists. Any panel beating and frame work would be done by Bodylines who I believe are leaders in this sort of work in the UK They have sorted out the chassis and bodywork on Aston Martins for me and have seen my BB with my insurers (which prompted my appeal on this website). I will ask the garage co-ordinating the repair to contact DK Engineering if they have not already done so in case they have any insight but I do know they use Bodylines for this sort of work.
If it were me I would try and buy a wall art one— everyone has a price— and yes you may end up paying $20K++ for it
