I've been frequenting this forum for some time but have only just recently purchased a 1980 example of the 512. It has the red/black paint scheme, and my question lies with the interior. Unfortunately the original seats were discarded and replaced with thickly bolstered Recaro race seats. I'm looking for suggestions on where I might be able to find a pair of black (with red-piped inserts would be perfect) Daytona seats, or if they ever even come up, original or not.

    thanks,
    -Matt

Did you buy that car in Montreal, Canada by chance ? There was one just like that advertised there a while back.

Can't help you on the seats bud.....but hang in and someone will reply.

    Kds,
Yes, that's the very car, and I've tentatively bought it at this point.

Try Ferrari Spa. at www.owners.ferrari.com FYI, Ferrari is now providing all parts for Ferrrai 20 years or older through its new Classishe program...in fact, if they don't have the part you need, they will source it from the orginal vender or make it themselves...

Greetings and CONGRATS on a great car!

I agree Matt Jones at ReOriginals in Houston Texas can not only source the exact seat COVERS but can also most likely locate the inner frames for you as well..

His network of contacts on this stuff is amazing..........

With Ferrari now selling and/or reproducing all parts for cars 20+ years old, I wonder what kind of effect that will have on companies such as ReOriginals ? I know for me I would rather buy from Ferrari and get a factory warranty on the parts...especially if it is a mechnical part...

Try Tom Shaughnessy (http://www.vintageferrariparts, I believe). If he doesn't have some, he'll know where to find them. That's assuming you would like some original seats, not repros.

Ferrari has long used outsourcing on many components and continues to this day.......the items from ReOriginals use these same vendors, as I understand it.

Now if you need a new engine block, well, I think you'd contact the new Restoration Group.

    Good luck on your seats!
