actually, due to my poor powers of observation I was unsure what seemed weird about your car but now that Mr Observant has pointed out the spoiler colour it explains the strange look.

I think the black spoiler has always been a highlight and accentuates the rear of the car

 

it also matches all the air cleaner covers, louvres all of the top and rear of the rear deck and all the black window frames etc etc etc...it's what it's meant to be.

one could argue that the bottom half should be black too, but i'm not such a fan of that on a red car to be honest.

 

also...those little slots on the air cleaner covers...are they standard? i don't remember those on my car....looks like a good idea, though.

 

I think matt black from the bottom of the doors down looks good because it disguises a lot of stone chips and breaks up the vast sea of red you have an aversion to

 

Remember Wheels or Sports Car World did an article on a 308GTS when they were new - it was a car from Dixons and was red with black under like a Boxer. It didn't suit it at all IMO.

I suppose I'll have to paint mine speckly blue like Horse's if I want to get a decent concour score ..... not that there's anything wrong with blue, much prefer it really

 

And I have one of those spoilery thingoes that sits behind the rear window....painted black, of course.

 

those spoiler thingoes are for poofs

real men drive on cross ply tyres and don't use spoilers ..... err that thing on the front of my car isn't a spoiler , it's a polishing nuisance

I wasn't on the way to a concourse....

 

I've never painted anything on my car... it's how I found it in the dusty lock up in watford 9 years ago.

The spoiler is smooth and red... it should be satin black, but I don't mind it either way... just like the lower section.. being red somehow takes a few years off it's appearance I think.

I think Horse's spoiler would be textured like the GTS roof panel... yes?.. BB are not textured.

The air box cover slots.... I've seen a few cars with them, but not all... Mine's certainly not unique in having them, but it looks VERY hand made doesn't it... but then... thats perfect for a BB...

 

what made you think it was good idea in the first place?

 

i had a momentary lapse of memory and forgot that the intake is to the rear of that in a high pressure area of the deck.

the wing thingo on janet's 328GTS is satin, btw.

 

328's had either from the factory.. they also have a smoother texture roof panel than 308.. not smooth, just smoother. But there are aftermarket ones which can be anything.

I'll probably paint mine black at some point... but it's very low on my priority list..

but I'm fairly sure all QV's with spoilers fitted at time of purchase when new will have them in roof texture.
