I've been on an Odyssey the last few years with my 512TR transmission. I've tried several different existing product combinations and had a number of failures - namely replacement shafts snapping and gears breaking or showing signs of premature wear.

To address this, I asked HCF to provide me upgraded replacements for most of the internals. It’s been a few months since I got the car back together and am delighted by the results - the car shifts well cold or warm and while driving it easily or spiritedly. This upgrade of the transmission gears and shafts resolved the very over stressed link common to all the Boxer-style Ferrari’s

I had HFC supply me 2 complete sets, just in case, and still have the complete uninstalled (new) second set. I no longer need the backup and am offering the second set to a new owner. This full upgrade set consists of all gears and main shaft made from EN 36 VAR very clean grade steel which was then specially heat treated for maximum durability and hardness:

    - motorsports main shaft with 32 splines eliminates the stress risers in the gears
and shaft of the OEM coarse 8 spline shaft. It provides 30% more cross sectional
strength in 1st and reverse. (My 1st gear (small) split in 2011)

    - exact direct replacements for all 5 forward gear sets and reverse all with instead
of the normal 20° tooth pressure angle, a vastly stronger motorsport 28°
pressure angle for more tooth contact area giving added strength

    - propeller shaft made from 300 M steel that has been hardened with a special
process that allows for up to approximately 280° of flex rotation allowing it to absorb the
torque and shock in the drive line

Gear ratios are standard 512 TR :
    1st 12 : 35 = 2.916
    2nd 17 : 32 = 1.882
    3rd 19 : 27 = 1.421
    4th 23 : 25 = 1.087
    5th 27 : 32 = 0.815
    RM 14 : 34 = 2.428

I also installed a new Limited Slip Differential replacement. I discovered my OEM welded diff had split with the notorious crack all the way around, just waiting to blow out the left side cover. Thank goodness my input side of the main shaft snapped when it did, forcing me to dive inside the transaxle. The LSD is a wonderful addition to smooth out the power distribution and makes this car wonderful and enjoyable for street or track use. HCF has the LSD they can offer, if that's needed as well.

This will all work in any of the BB and Testarossa, 512 TR, F512 M as well. And is the perfect solution for a once and final repair of the ever failing Boxer transmissions.. Why repair your broken transmission with OEM parts that are just going to fail again?

    Please PM me if interested.

FYI - I am an active professional motorsports engineer, I'll welcome any technical questions.

    Thanks,
    Kent

I have $12,000 in the 12 gears and main shaft and prop (quill shaft) I also have a spare set of the four larger ZF steel synchro clutches, which I will also have available if you need them, don't quote me but I think I have about $125 in each, I'd have to dig out the receipt. The synchros fit reverse, 1-3rd, the 4th and 5th synchros are a bit smaller and rarely see enough of a load or drastic speed variations to wear much so I did not bother replacing the two smaller ones. Other than that as I mentioned this was the last time that I intend to have to R & R this 512TR transaxle for failed Ferrari OEM parts, not to mention their insane pricing of the limited specific gears you can get.
