I tried to operate the emergency window handle on my 512BBi. The mechanism appears to be stuck for both doors, I obviously did not try to force the handle. The windows are operating normally using the electric switches.

Is there a special procedure I am not applying for this operation?

You need to be sure the handle is pushed all the way in and it needs to be turned uncomfortably hard.

I had same issue with my BBi and didn't dare to apply too much torque.....Then I started thinking if I ever will need this function. Have anyone ever operated their window(s) with the emergency crank?

    Best, Peter

I ran into the same observation after completely rebuilding the motors and re-cabling. I really saw no reason to stress it and didn't try very hard.

    Going from memory:

The handle insertion acts on steel balls which act like a clutch throw-out mechanism to disengage the driven gear from the pulley for the cable. This requires uncomfortable force to push in the emergency crank handle. Then after inserted, the cranking of the emergency handle requires slightly less, but only slightly less uncomfortable force to turn imho.

Doesn't help knowing that those parts are nylon, and breaking them makes dollar signs dance .
